“Annabelle.”
Right…left…right…kick…
“Annabelle!”
Duck…right hook…left…
“ANNABELLE!” Annabelle heard the yell as though from far away. Steadying the punch-bag, she walked over to the sound system and turned the volume to 3. Turning to the door of the gym, she saw a tall dark haired man standing before her. Darren Hall nodded, as she unwound the wrist supports from around her arms, and stowed them in her tattered grey bag.
“Thought I might find you here.” Darren said as Annabelle pulled on her jacket.
“Well you guessed right didn’t you?” She picked up her bag and headed over to him. Holding open the door for her, Darren addressed her again.
“I need you upstairs in ten for the team briefing, and I’ve put Sky Harley in charge of the new major operation.” I glanced sideways at him.
“You aren’t by any chance going to tell me what the new operation is, are you?” He smirked knowingly.
“You know I don’t play like that, Annabelle. Which reminds me, speaking of Sky, I’ve noticed he’s taken a shine to you in these last few months!” Annabelle raised a sceptical eyebrow, as Darren smirked yet again.
“Oh please! Is that the BEST you can do?! He’s my best friend! Just because we get on well and we worked well in the-”
“Well, he was full of praise when he picked you straight away as part of his team. So I was just wondering-”
“You can stop right there Mr Hall, and I will see you in the conference room, okay? Good!” She rolled her eyes as she made her way to the female changing rooms.
“Think about it Ann-” She cut across him.
“I did when you last brought that idea up in conversation for about 10 seconds, and my answer is still the same. A big fat NO!” And before Darren Hall could say another word, she pushed her way through the changing room door, and disappeared from view. Shaking his head and chuckling quietly, he turned and walked towards the lift. |
