ok well you all know my other account got frozen (xsilverxslicesx) so i took a story from there and yes im going to post it here. there has been a spur of labels around this site again... so this is very appropriate. most of you have read this before but this is for those who havent.
ok ok i am all roared (sp?) up again. what the hell is with all the flipping labels? i mean there are so many stories on "shes punk" "hes goth" and all this. and i just read a story telling us what punk style is and al that crap. AHHHH its so effing annoying. ok. this will be one of the only times i label.. so here it comes but dont get used to it
punk- definition A young person, especially a member of a rebellious counterculture group., teenager or young adult who is a performer (or enthusiast) of punk rock and a member of the punk youth subculture. punk is not a style of clothing. it is a state of mind. yu act punk, yuo dont dress punk. and to all the posers (sorry i had to say it) that are going around saying " i listen to gc, sp, and mcr.. i wear baggy pants and i skatebaord. duh im so punk" you need to get a life. i mean #1 none of those bands are "punk" better term.. punk rock. punk rock is rock music with deliberately offensive lyrics expressing anger and social alienation; in part a reaction against progressive rock . some real punk bands are the casualties, social distorion, ramones, misfits, ect. and if you skate board, your a skater duh. and baggy pants mean nothing. i said it before ill say it again. punk is a way of life, a state of mind, not a flipping fashion
goth- definition Of or relating to an architectural style prevalent in western Europe from the 12th through the 15th century and characterized by pointed arches, rib vaulting, and a developing emphasis on verticality and the impression of height.

often gothic Of or relating to a style of fiction that emphasizes the grotesque, mysterious, and desolate. gothic Barbarous; crude A member of a Germanic people who invaded the Roman Empire in the early centuries of the Christian era.. . no where in there does it say " a person who dresses in all black and sits around all day cutting themselves while listening to metal" ugh that is such a steriotype. techniqually (sp?) there is not a single goth in the world right now. and just because you paint your face white or wear spikes does not make you a "goth" and just because you shop at hot topic does not make you goth either so stop using that word. my jeez
prep- A student or former student of a preparatory school.
A person whose manner and dress are deemed typical of traditional preparatory schools. One who is sweet and acts in a like-able manner. now does it say a prep is someone who wears all pink? or how about someone who is a cheerleader and is popular?i didnt think so. our version of prep is so over used and meaningless. we turned this word into someone who is a b*tch, a cheerleader, pretty, girly, and flirtacious! and people dont like them because of it! it doesnt even make sense. you see some one that is labeled as a prep and say "i dont like you die preps!" i am not even gettign into that one so now you know.. A PREP ISNT SOMEONE WHO SHOPS AT HOLISTER
geek- A person regarded as foolish, inept, or clumsy.
A person who is single-minded or accomplished in scientific or technical pursuits but is felt to be socially inept.
A carnival performer whose show consists of bizarre acts, such as biting the head off a live chicken. now... im sure you read that definition and wondered if you actually even know a geek. i know i dont. people who get good grades or are smart and dont do dumb bad things are called geeks, nerds, dorks. but why? all they are is being a great person. they end up getting bulied, taunted and ridiculed just because they are a geek. is that even fair? i mean they all are swept aside and talked about when they arent even geeks! it just doesnt make sense to me...
s*lut- a dirty untidy woman A woman considered sexually promiscuous.
A woman prostitute.
A slovenly woman; a slattern. yes a lot of people ARE s*luts.. but im saying when people see smeone kissing another, they scream out sl*ut! they arent sl*uts and i just want to get that through peoples heads
ok there are tons and tons more labels but i picked the most commonly used. i want to jam into peoples brains that none of these are styles, or music, or words, or stores. they are states of minds and they are attitudes. so before you go and say a label be sure you are using it right. because all the people i know and im sure that you know.. dont.
and i just wish everyone would stop using them.. but if your going to use them use them right |
