preface...

Once apon a time, long, long ago, there was a little goddess. The world was at war, lives were destroyed, tears were leaked, and no one had time for love. No one just stopped and admired the beauty this little goddess created. She started fading. No one noticed. No one cared. Not even the other gods. None but one. This god showed her away to revive love, beauty, and happiness. The god and the goddess put their plan into action.

chapter one...

I picked up my pencil, and started my test. It was a hot August day. School had just began and already we were taking a major, 4-day-long test. Social Studies was the portion that day. Social Studies and Maps and Diagrams. My two worst subjects. It was going to be dreadful. I mean, it would've been, if I had a normal day.

As I was working on the 20 something question, the ground started shaking. It vibrated so fast, I barely noticed it at first. Then it became more violent. I almost fell out of my seat. my teacher's "World's Best" mug rolled of her desk and broke to a bajillion pieces.

I looked around at the other student. Everyone was silently doing their test, as if this masive earthquake wasn't going on.

I heard another brake, and a searing pain erupted in my heel. I looked down to see my neighbors mirror, which she keeps out even during tests, had fallen and a piece was stuck deep in my shoe. My heart beated faster, and I couldn't understand how everyone could fail to notice this earthquake!

Then just like that, it stopped. It was like it had never happened. The teacher's mug was on her desk, still in tact. The mirror still on Rebecca Greenwoods desk, unbroken. I thought I might have imagined the hole thing until I looked at my shoe. The mirror shard was gone, but there was still a split where blood was gushing out.

"Mrs. Weatherby?" I said, Raising my hand.

"Africa! (Yes my parents did name me Africa) We are taking a test! Can we please save this for later?"

"Um... I don't think so..." I held up my foot for the teacher and everyone gasped.

The nurse had to rush me to the hostpital when she saw how deep the wound was. The foot was bandaged and the cut ran to my bone, but the doctor said my natural healing process was faster than normal. A.K.A., I would not be needing stitches. That was me, little miss Heals So Fast I Give Doctors Whiplash.

As much as the pain annoyed me, i couldn't stop thinking about that not-so-in-my-head earthquake. I couldn't think of an explanation to it, as much as i tried.

My Aunt Dandy came in, and seeing my bloody bandage she just walked right back out again. I lived with her because my parents abandoned me as a child. My mom gave me to her sister to babysit, and never came back. But Dandy has happily raised me since I was 4 months old. Her real name is Diana, but when i was little and just learning to speak, it came out Dandy, and I guess it just stuck.

After Dandy came back, just to walk out again, (I swear I laught for five minutes whole) the nurse said I had a man here to visit.

He was tall, wearing shorts, that's it. I was surprised the nurse didn't kick him out for indecient appearel, though his muscles, so big yet not too bulkish, might have held them back. Hell, they might have made them hold their breaths and pass out. He was hot for a guy in his late twienties.

"Hello, your Highness." he said bowing. He had long black hair and beard, and when he moved streaks of blue and green shined. I raised an eyebrow at him.

"Uh, hi. But I think you are in the wrong room." As I said it, I felt my words were not true. "I'm not the Queen of England."

"No, ofcourse not. You have much more power. Are you not Aphridi-- I mean Africa?"

"Listen, Sir, I don't think--"

"Oh, I'm sorry, allow me to introduce myself. I am Poseidon. God of the Sea. Master of the Waves. Lord of the Currents." He looked at me expectently.

"Uhhhh... NURSE!" I tried to call agian, to get this crazy man out of my room, but I couldn't. I tried to wrench my mouth open but it wouldn't budge.

"Now, now, sweetheart. None of that. It won't make a difference any way. The room is magically sound proof. You warned my you might do this."

I shook my head. "What. Are. You. Talking. About?!"

"Again, I'm sorry. You told me to come before you were 18"

I sat up in my bed. My ankle throbbed a little. "I don't know what's going on, but you better get out of here, crazy person, before I call the cops."

But he wasn't looking at me. He was looking at my ankle. "Ah. I see you have healed well from the earthquake earlier. If you were in your true form, you would heal much faster, but... Can I have one of your seawater taffies?"

"Um, okay? You know about the earthquake? What true form?" My head was spinning.

"My dear, one step at a time." He took a piece of candy from my side table. I didn't think they were seawater whatevers but he at them just the same. "Ofcourse I know about the earthquake! I caused it! In the roman days, I was called the Great Earth Shaker, but Zues alway--"

"You caused it?!?! How?!?!"

"My dear, I am the God of the Sea! The water moves the earth. How did you think they were caused? Tectonic plates? Ha!"

I didn't feel like arguing about the God thing, I had too many questions. "Why didn't anyone else feel it? Why only me?"

"Alas, mortality is a powerful thing. Mortals choose to use those powers to explain Godly things, or ignore them."

"You speak like you're not mortal. Like I'm not mortal..." I looked down at my ankle, trying to deside if he spoke truth or not.

"Yes, my dear, because you and I are so much more. We are Gods!"

I frowned. "Yeah right. Next you're going to tell me I should look out for the easter bunny!"

"You do not believe? Look at your ankle."

I'd like to tell you the ankle was still bloody, hurt. I'd like to tell you I kicked old Papa Waters out the door. Remained human. Unknowing. But that'd be a lie.

chapter two...

"Okay," I said after looking at my healed ankle (which was also bandageless). "I belive you."

Poseidon raised an eyebrow. "Really? Already?"

"Yes." I sighed. "I've always felt like I was ment for something greater than me. Like I belong somewhere were I can make a difference."

He chuckled. "And you were quite right, my dear. Would you like me to show you were you do belong?"

Poseidon took me to a river just outside of the hospital. He looked at the water, and suddenly it rose to his level. "Take us to Royaume de la Beauté, please." He said to the water.

"Royaume de la Beauté... The Kingdom of Beauty?"

"Yes, my dear. That is your domain."

"My... Domain? Why is it called Kingdom of Beauty, though? And why in french?" The river water was twisting around us, lifting us into the air. It pulled us so fast through the river, I couldn't see anything but the god riding next to me.

"Ah... I haven't told you who you are, yet. My bad." He stoked his beard, hints of green and blue more definate now.

"Who I am? I'm Africa Kensy. I live with my aunt and I'm an only child."

"Yes, right now. Haven't you been listening? You are a god! Africa is just you're mortal name. In Olympia, you go by many names. Queen of Beauty. Master of Love. Venus. Cupid, even. God of love, beauty, furtility, procreation, and so on. You ARE beauty. You ARE love. You are Aphrodite."

"Aphro...dite? But she is suppose to be beautiful. She's suppose to get any guy she wants, read other's emotions, bend love to suit anyone at her very will! I can't do any of that! You've mad a mistake. I'm sorry, I have to--" But we were at the destination point. The water placed us gently on a beach and waved to poseidon good bye.

"Welcome to your home. Royaume de la Beauté."

It was an island. A small island. A strange one, too. The sand was different shades of color. Copper, silver, gold. Tiny, metal specks. The forest just outside the beach was perfect. Bright, beautiful, and not dense at all. Vines wrapped around trees and grew fruits I've never seen before. Up on a large hill was the biggest castle I've ever seen. Pink, with giant monuments of men, almost naked.

I noticed a tree on the outskirts of the forest. It was hollowed out, with bows and arrows in it.

I wondered if it could ever rain on such a beautiful place, and suddenly the sky thundered and rain poured down by the buckets. And just like that it stopped, and we weren't even wet.

"Wow-Oh-Wow! This is the most... The coolest..." I was lost for words that would give this place justice.

"This is your domain. Royaume de la Beauté. All the gods pitched in to make this place as perfect as it is. They are suppose to, one of the ancient laws, but my place doesn't look half as good as Royaume de la Beauté. Do you want a tour?"

"Most deffinatly!"

We walked along the beach towords the castle.

"The sand comes from Hephaestus. His own invention. Walk barefoot in this and you can see what you can't normally."

"Like what?" I asked, wondering if it was safe for me to take off my shoes.

"Emotion. Words. Truth. Lie. If you consintrate, the future and the past. and sometimes, only sometimes, you can see the face of your true love."

I took off my high heels quickly. At first nothing seemed different. Then I looked at Poseidon and noticed a brown glow around him. I automatically knew it ment curiosity.

"What?" I said, watching brown smoke come out of my mouth and disappeared.

"Nothing. Lets keep moving." I saw the lying green smoke come out of his words. Jealousy. I frowned, but kept moving. I had too many questions.

"The forest is enchanted by Demeter. Whatever Olympian fruit you want will grow right away. Where ever you walk, flowers bloom and disappear again."

"Really?" I ran into the bright forest. Walking backwards, I saw roses grow after I lift my foot. After a second they disappear into a cloud of petals.

"There are sertan trees that have been hollowed out and filled with weaponry, of your choice."

"Why would I want that?"

"Ask Artemis. God of the Hunt. I suppose she gave it to you because she doesn't like you, and you don't like her."

"Why?"

"Well, because she swore off men after who she thought was her true love started dating you. You found it offensive that she swore off love, off you. She got mad at you for stealing Ares."

"Ares? I'm dating Ares?"

He sighed. "No, not anymore. That's why you sent yourself to earth. Come we have lots to talk about."
