Jessie couldn't look at the picture anymore, she ran across the hall to the bathroom, the students eyes were still glued to her. Jessie let out a deep sob as she slammed the bathroom stall door shut. The picture was of her locked into a passionate kiss with Jami's boyfriend. I guess that's what a year of non-stop partying can do.
Then Jessie heard the bell ring, no doubt she'd be late for class now. She had too many things on her mind, she needed to make things right with her best friend. Jessie had never had a good reputation, but now she was going to be known as the biggest backstabber in school. She looked in the mirror, her eyes were red and puffy. She definitely couldn't go to class like this, so she had another idea. 'How about I skip school for today, think of an apoligy for Jami, and meet her at the end of school,' Jessie thought to herself. So she quitely snuck to her locker, grabbed her things, and got off the school property.
Jessie looked at her clock, just in time to catch the tail end of school and make amends with Jami. She re-entered the school quickly enough to not change her mind. The students started to pour out of the class rooms, and then she saw Jami. Jessie tried to read the expression on her face, she actually looked like she had calmed down. This was a good sign. "Jami, listen, I was far from sober at that party, and I'd never do anything to hurt you," Jessie said, just like she'd practiced in the mirror. "I know, I might have been a bit harsh," Jami said with a look of sympathy on her face. Jessie let out a relieved sigh, she loved the fact that Jami couldn't hold a decent grudge. "I also made up with Jason," (Jami's boyfriend.) Jessie smiled, when she skipped school she had also decided to stop partying so much and focus on school. She wanted to loose her bad reputation, and she wanted to bring her grades up. So her weekends from now on would involve watching movies with friends and a bowl of popcorn.
"I'm going to walk home now," Jami said while slumping her backpack over her shoulder. "ok," Jessie replied, she didn't have to leave untill her bus came, whitch would be in about five minutes. Jessie waved goodbye to her friend. Then she saw a figue walk up to her, it was Jason. "I'm glad you and Jami are ok," Jessie said, feeling kinda awkward. After all, they were the latest gossip story in school. "Yeah, me too. Me and you are ok as friends, right? Jason said, a smile crossed his face. Jessie wasn't sure if it was a fake smile. "Yeah," Jessie replied, Jason was a good guy, and a good boyfriend. He didn't deserve the rumors, or the stares and whispers. She did. "Listen.." Jason continued, the smile left his face, "I really like you Jessie." Jessie stood there, unsure of exactly what Jason was trying to get at. "As more..then a friend," he said taking a step closer. Jessie stood there in shock, what was she supposed to do now? He got closer and wrapped his arms around her. Although Jessie would never admit it, she liked the way it felt when he held her. Before she could break free he kissed her.
A good guy..maybe.
A good boyfriend..definitely not. |
