The world is daunting. It may not be a particularly large world and it may not be a particularly nice world but this is our home and it always will be until the day of divine judgement.

I took a step out into the open and smelled the crisp air. It had a sharp-sweet taste to it as though someone was brushing my body with a needle dressed in sugar. The autumn leaves shudder from the bitter wind and the uncreative housing is reflected on both sides of the street. A dull car drives past. It pushes the leaves into backward somersaults as it does so. I like this world. It's just so...safe.

I know I'm wrong. I only need to put one foot in front of the other and slip into the gutter if I wanted to get run over by a speeding vehicle. But I don't because I like this world.

The bus appears on the horizon. It is just as dull as the car. It's coat is dirty and the light refuses to shine but shadows still decide to gather as though it were the bus's duvet. It pulled up against the pavement, letting the tyre scrape against the cement.

I took a step forward and let the bus step catch my fall. Faith in existence. I was always quite nive. The eyes of my companions lent upon me. They glimmered. The girls lent towards the centre of the bus the guys lent the opposite way, arms crossed and their faces pressed into a expression of dissatisfaction. They always act like this when I am around. I'm not quite sure why. I have no interest in anyone else's life unless something traumatic is about to happen. That is when I step in. Trivial matters are something I don't like to associate myself with. I find it as dull as the bus's coat. I like it when the impossible happens instead of the probable.

I sit at the back of the bus and look through the side window and admire the outside world. I was approached by a girl. Her hair was a blonde with extensions that rolled down her back. She wore an expression of overconfidence on her face. It may have been the overwhelmingly large amount of make up which made her expression hard to read. This was Vicky.

"Mattt..." She purred. I ignored her. She has asked me the same question every day for the past year. "May I sit here?" she asked, pointing to the bare seat next to me. I nod. She sits and she talks. I'm not sure what she talks about. I can not understand her most of the time. Her talking is too rapid and I'm sure she does not speak English most of the time but it's nice to hear people talk about their lives because it shows that they are well. I just hope I don't get involved because I don't want the responsibility of a relationship. People glance at us from their seats. Their expressions of either jealously, curiosity or joy.

The school day passes quickly. PE was the last lesson of the day that is when I had the first clue. We were playing football. I coundn't focus. My vision started to blur and I started to feel unwell. I was shivering rapidly and I clenched on to my baggy jacket and lent against the football post behind me. I heard someone call out to me. A friend or foe.

"Matt, you are looking a bit pale. How about going to the nurse?" It was a girl's voice. It wasn't Vicky.

"I'm fine, I'm just a little faint," I gasped. She placed a hand upon my shoulder.

"Why do you always act like this? Are you really vain enough to think that you can live life without a little help?,"

"It's not that," I shook my head. "Can we talk about this later?" I asked trying to work out her identity from the blurred vision. I let my hair cast a shadow over my eyes. "I have to try and finish the game,".

"Ah, well, I don't think there is much chance of that,"

"Whys that?" I spat.

"Open your eyes," I did as she said, not noticing that I had closed them.

--Sorry it's not as good as I intended. Eeep. Next part out soon.
