It’s not hard, do give it a try,
Write yourself and personify the lie.
Make yourself pretty, loved and perfect,
Hide every flaw, brush over every defect.

Everyone loves a princess, never the hag
The princess finds lxst, is ever the slxg.
Fairies and queens drink to her health,
Behind cold dungeons hides her wealth.

But the hag you see, is ugly and alone,
Feared and hated in her cold, lonely home.
And yet, what you fear is the reflection of self,
Hidden within the mirror sitting on the bookshelf.

Look and you shall see, hear and you shall listen
Look at the beauty which from you does glisten.
Compare yourself to the reality of the witch,
And shoo her away, your illusion enriched.

But remember dear author, your writing is such,
Just a delusion, a wishful pen-to-paper touch.
You are not the princess, loved and ideal,
You are but the hag, blemished and real.

So do go ahead and give it a good try,
But don’t get swallowed by your seductive lie.
Dreams are just dreams, prose just words,
Perfection's just a paradox absurd. |
