A/N: I'm in love with Aladdin now. So, forgive me if you don't like that. It's the first song on the clique now.

Baby didn't ask permission if she could go to Rich's room with me and Aley. She shouldn't have to but come on-it's fuucking hospital. Don't you think you should ask? They let her go in anyway and I pulled Aley into my arms and carried her in, my mind set to ignore anyone who told me I couldn't go in.
Rich was looking pale and sick. His skin had a gross yellow tint to it. He had a TV in and he was looking at it with a sad expression.
"Bubby!" Aley almost screamed when we walked in.
She jumped out of my arms, pretty much so I set her down on her feet. Baby picked her back up and told her sternly to not squirm and be VERY still and not rough at all or she was going to hurt Rich. Aley agreed quickly and was indeed very still when Baby put her up in the bed with Rich. She wrapped her little arms around her brothers neck and held herself close.
I wrapped my arms around Baby's waist and put my chin on her shoulder as we watched the twins babble at one another. A nurse knocked at the door and came in.
"Yes?" Baby asked distractedly.
She was watching Aley to make sure she wasn't to rough with Rich.
"Does he like television? I know Alice does." the nurse said kindly, smiling fondly at Rich.
"Yeah. Him and Aley like to watch Disney movies at home." I nodded as Baby looked curiously over at the nurse.
"We have a few movies for the kids like him. Would you like to see them?" she asked.
"That would be wonderful." Baby said before I could reply.
The nurse looked over at her and a apologizing look came onto her face. She patted Baby's shoulder,
"This must be hard for you. A little kid that age with cancer. I can't imagine how hard it would be for me."
"It's probably harder on Z." Baby sighed looking over at me, "Rich is closer to him."
The nurse gave me a sympathetic smile to and left to get the Disney movies. She came back a few minutes later with a whole stack of them.
"This isn't even half. I grabbed as many as I could carry." she said setting them on a little table.
Rich and Aley stopped talking to look curiously at the stack of plastic covers with colorful covers. Baby smiled and gave the nurse a little hug,
"If I knew your name I would say thank you a million times over."
"Amy." the nurse laughed, "And the thanks aren't needed. Just doing my job. It helps that these are the sweetest kids I've ever met."
"So you're going to be Rich's nurse?" I asked as Baby carried half of the stack over to the bed to show the twins.
"Yes. I'm excited about it to. Is Alice going to be staying up here as well?" she asked.
"I'm not sure. The doctors released her to us today but she can't live without Rich. Aley and Rich are really close, even for twins." I said with a shrug, "You'll probably be seeing a lot of us. Baby and I aren't going to be able to sleep with only one of the twins at home."
God. Only one of the twins...
"It'll be okay." Amy patted my shoulder and gave me a small shoulder, "The doctors might be able to stop it before it gets to serious."
I only looked at her. I hope they could, but I've noticed that doctors aren't as good at stopping things as everybody gives them credit for.
"Do you have Aldin by any chance? They love that movie." Baby asked Amy with a little sad smile.
"Of course." Amy handed her the movie out of the middle of the second stack.
Baby stuck into the VCR and pressed play on the TV. Rich gave a big, exhausted, grin as the opening music came on.
I slumped against the bed and fell asleep as Baby and Amy talked quietly in the background.

"...tell me princess, now when did you last let your heart decide....over side ways and under on a magic carpet ride. A whole new world...a new fantastic point of view. No one tell us no, or where to go. Say were only dreaming. A whole new world. A dazzling place I never knew...but now I'm in a whole new world with you...a whole new world...I'm like a shooting star, I've come so far. I can't go back to where I used to be..."
I groaned slightly and opened my eyes. Aladdin and the princess, I always forget her name, were on the magic carpet ride in the sky. Baby was standing on tiptoe to pause the movie. She looked over at me with a smile and then back at the sleeping twins who had their arms wrapped around one another. She came over and got down next to me. I pressed my lips to hers and then we hugged for a few seconds. She pulled away and we both stood up. We stood holding one another looking down at the twins.
God I was going to miss Rich so much.
Please, Lord, don't take him back to your home. I'm not sure if I want him to go that far away. I don't even know if that place exists. Take me instead. Send me to helll do whatever you want-
Just don't take my kids. |
