Your broken bones don’t make sense
A labyrinth of lies
Protects the bruises on your arms
The black around your eyes

Handprints on your wrist
Hidden by long sleeves
Reminders of all the times
He wouldn’t let you leave

Pick the petals from the flower
And drop them to the floor

He won’t hurt me anymore"

Your excuses are getting cloudy
With a chance of rain
And every time I reach out
You flinch expecting pain

He left you thirteen messages
You hear his unstable frustration
Your hands tremble; your stomach knots
Terrified of his accusations
