"Do you like girls?"

"what!" Heather would answer.

"You heard me, DO YOU LIKE GIRLS"

"what? why are you asking me that?" Heather would question once again.

"Just answer the question! DO YOU LIKE GIRLS?"

"No, of course not!" Heather would answer.

Then the boys would walk away snickering while Heather could hear them the whole time talking about how her answer didn't prove a thing. "Heather still likes girls."

She didn't understand what was going on. Where did those questions come from? Why were people constantly asking her that same question over and over again? What was going on?

It wasn't until lunch period that Heather fully comprehended the immensity of what had just taken place. Her best friend no longer had "room" at the table for her. She would walk around the lunch room trying to find a spot while people's eyes followed her and then scolded her as she walked past. "Look at that freak" they would say. "Who wants to sit with her?"

Heather still had no idea were those questions where coming from when they obviously were not true. If you took one look at her room you could tell from all the Leonardo DeCaprio posters that hung from her walls. The only thing Heather knew was that she all of the sudden was an outcast with no friends, so she was left eating lunch in the bathroom for several weeks.

Things only continued to get worse as the weeks turned to months. Heather no longer had a best friend to confide things to. She couldn't get dressed in the locker room without wanting to burst into tears from all the girls scolding her. She couldn't walk down the halls without people whispering about her and intentionally pushing her down. The rumor was taking its toll on Heather. Going to school was pure torture, so bad that one day she decided she had had ENOUGH! She took the belt, made a loop, put it around her neck and was about to jump when she remembered a favorite bible verse of hers about how her lord Jesus went through all that she too will go through.

"If he could get through feelings like this and still make such a difference in his love towards others, then i owe it to him to do the same thing" Heather thought "I too will not let hatred ruin me, but instead i will try to show how true LOVE can restore me."

And from that day forward Heather tried with the best of her ability to not judge or hate others based solely on rumors and talk but instead to show love and kindness to those who need it the most, cause you never know what they might do to stop all the pain.
