I ran towards the kitchen early the next morning,sticking a ridiculously huge bow in my hair as I charged down the hall. Z came walking out of his room at the wrong moment,causing me to run into him and we both tumbled to the floor. I sat up on top of him,my hair in my face. I shoved it out with my hands to see Z grinning up at me.
"What?" I asked standing up and helping Z up.
"Nothing." Z said quickly, "What's up with the bow?"
"Just thought I'd make a scene."
"Baby,it's almost as big as my head."
"How's this my fault?"
"Hey!"
"You said it first." I cut in before he could be mean to me.
We walked into the kitchen and I grabbed a piece of toast and shoved it in the toaster. I leaned against the counter ready to grab it when it was ready. Z stood by me,looking board. He yawned widly and my toast popped up and Z snatched it. He shoved it in his mouth with a big grin.
"I could have made you some!" I whinned shoving more toast in the toaster.
"But you didn't." Z grinned.
"Z,you know you have to ask."
"You know you deserve the attic bedroom!"
"Good god Z. I don't even WANT that room."
"Well it should be the guest room then."
"Well maybe it will be some day."
My house had four floors in it but I chose to live on the ground floor. It was closer to the kitchen anyhow. I didn't mean living in a small room. I didn't do hardly anything in there but sit in there and pout. I had my own computer but I hardly got on it. Myspace had to be the most boaring website if nobody was online. That and I could always talk to them at school. If I wanted. Now my cell phone,completely diffrent story. I probably could live without it,but Z's dad hates me so we have to go to texting sometimes just to talk. It's horrible. Z and I both hate texting but we don't always get our way. If Z's caught talking to me either his truck get's beat up or he does. His dad was so slow now it was mostly Z's truck that got all the rath.
I grabbed my toast as it popped up and my mom came walking into the room.
"Morning mama. I have to get to school. We're late." I said distractedly kissing her on the cheek and shoving toast in my mouth.
"Hope,hunny,we need to talk." my mom said.
"What?" I asked,crumbs falling from my mouth.
"Z,darling,could you wait in the car?"
Z shrugged and flashed my mom a grin. He strolled out to the truck and I heard the engine roar to life and die. I could hear Z yelling curse words at it. I smiled slightly and looked at my mom who was frowning hard.
"What is it mama?" I asked.
"Hope,your brother was killed." my mama choked.
I dropped the rest of my toast with a gasp.
"M-Michael?" I gasped,falling into a chair. I heard the front door open and Z walked in. My mom must have been crying because she left the room.
"What's wrong?" Z asked.
I couldn't bring myself to reply.
I loved Michael. Who would have killed an innocent 12 year old? |
