A/N: Sorry I've taken so long. I'll start trying to get at least one part out each week.

I just stood there, staring at him. It was like those words that he had used to accuse me of killing my own mother were a whip, and he had struck me in the face with it. I felt like blood was running down my face, blood from the wound that he had made with that whip. With those words. He had made me weak with a single blow...

But was this not my irresistible lover? Why would Darren think I had done it?

Finally, I managed to get up enough strength to speak. "What do you mean I killed her?" I asked in this small, hurt voice. I looked up into his eyes. When I saw his cold glare, my anger returned. I waited for his reply.

He didn't answer me right away. He just kept glaring at me for a moment, then he spoke. "I mean that you're the one who murdered her, Hazel." His words cut deep into my soul. I was still angry with him, but suddenly I felt like crying.

But then a hot flame of fury shivered through my body, and I stood up straight. I looked into his eyes with a furious gaze, and took a step forward. "How dare you," I breathed, then in a louder and fiercer tone, "How dare you!" Suddenly I felt like slapping him, but I restrained myself.

Darren's expression changed. He no longer glared at me, but he looked like my words had been a whip striking him like his had been for me. "I'm sorry, Hazel. I shouldn't have said it like that," he told me softly.

I calmed down then, and let my anger fade away. I became my calm, collected self once more. "Why do you think I murdered her?" I asked him.

He took a deep breath. "I feel supernatural power coming from you, Hazel. Also, you were there next to her when I came up."

I looked up at him sharply, my eyes widened in shock. "You feel supernatural power coming from me?" I demanded hurriedly.

Darren reluctantly nodded. "Yes. I've only just felt it quite recently. As I told you earlier, I can tell that a supernatural creature committed the murders. I'm not sure if the same one committed them both though."

I contemplated this for a few moments. So Darren felt supernatural power coming from me? But why? I wasn't a supernatural creature! Even if I was, Darren wouldn't have just started feeling it recently...

"But why do you feel supernatural power coming from me? And am I the only supernatural presence you feel?" I asked him, gazing up into his eyes. I waited rather impatiently for his response.

He looked down at me and let out a weary sigh. I realized that I was pestering him with questions when he hadn't slept for a long time. But instead of apologizing, I listened to what he had to say. "I don't know why I feel supernatural power coming from you, I just do. No, you are not the only supernatural presence I feel. I also feel another that feels familiar in a way."

I thought about this. Why was he feeling supernatural power coming from me? Who was the other supernatural creature Darren felt? Whoever it was, he or she must be the one who had killed Aly Watson and my mom. But why?

I opened my mouth to ask Darren what he thought, but before I could say anything he was talking. "I have to go now, Hazel. Be careful, something...or things are still out there. I'll see you later." After saying this urgently, he turned and was off.

I wondered where he had gone, but had little time to think about it because right then my father came up to me, holding his tear-stained handkerchief. "Did Darren say why he didn't come?"

I turned to him. "Yeah, Dad. He said that he didn't come because the police were interviewing him and he couldn't convince them to let him go to the funeral first," I lied in a calm voice, though I was burning with anxiety inside.

He nodded, his eyes still red from crying. "I wonder what they would want to interview him about. I can't believe they refused to allow him to come to the funeral first. Sometimes I can't believe how heartless people can be." Then he turned and glanced at the limo we had ridden here. Its engine was humming, and the driver inside it was waiting patiently for us. "Are you ready to go now?" he asked me.

I hesitated for a moment. After deciding that going home was the best thing I could do right now, I replied. "Yeah, Dad." I followed him over to the limo and got inside. After putting on my seatbelt, I turned and looked glumly out the window. It was only then that I realized that after blacking out next to the corpse of my mother, I had not woken until the next day. I had been unconscious that long. So that was why Darren had been so weary, he hadn't slept last night.

Finally, we arrived at my house. My dad and I got out. He gave the limo driver a tip, although we were already paying for the limo. My dad walked up to the house and unlocked the door and stepped inside. I was about to follow him inside when the familiar scent of blood hit my nose, and I heard shrieking laughter. The same laughter I'd heard when I'd discovered my mother's corpse.

All of a sudden, the glass in the front window of my house shattered. I dived onto the ground and protected my face with my arms. Lucky for me I was far enough away from the window that only a few sharp fragments of glass came close to me. I waited for a few moments before sitting up. Immediately I saw what had been thrown to shatter the window. Among all the bits of glass lay a large black rock that was completely smothered in blood. Then I heard the shrieking laughter again, and all of a sudden something slammed against my head and I collapsed on the ground, my mind succumbing to darkness...
