A/N: I'm so sorry for the extremely long and ridiculous wait. I'll try to do better on continuing my stories.

Yes, there was my mother, on the ground. Dead and smeared with blood. Lifeless and limp. I had to contemplate it for a moment before the tears came to my eyes.

I don't know how long I cried, but eventually Darren walked up and stood behind me. He stared at my mother's corpse for a moment before I heard him mutter, "So, the murderer strikes again." His words were so much unlike him that if the grief had not weighted me down, I would've turned around and demanded to know what was going on in an instant. But I didn't. Instead I stood up and turned to him.

"Was it the same person?" I asked him.

"Probably." This was all he said.

My sorrow over my mother's death turned to anger toward him. "Aren't you supposed to tell me it's all right? Comfort me?" I'd never been so angry. He just stared at me, only a small amount of surprise flickering in his eyes.

He stayed silent. It was then that I remembered that the bond between me and Darren wasn't that type of bond. I'd never expected for him to reassure me about anything. He wans't that type of person. I scrambled for an apology while banishing the anger and becoming my calm self once more.

But before I could apologize, he spoke. "A supernatural presence is close by. I can fee l it close by. It feels...familiar..." he informed me, ignoring my anger.

"Familiar? As in you think this is someone you know?" I asked him curiously.

"Maybe. But most likely not. Unless..." He trailed off.

"Unless what?" I asked anxiously?.

"Nothing," he murmured.

Before I could ask him anything else, I fell to the ground next to my dead mother, and everything went black.

I woke up sometime later to see my father standing over me. I lay in my bed in my room. My father stood over me, his face red from crying. When he saw I was awake, he smiled slightly.

"Good, you're awake. You wouldn't want to miss the...funeral." More tears leaked out of his eyes at the word "funeral".

"Funeral? Oh, yeah. Mom." I remembered what had happened, and sadness overcame me, though no more tears sprang from my eyes.

My dad turned away from me, obviously crying more. "Darren said he found you unconscious next to the body. He said you looked like you had fainted at the sight of her," he managed to say. "Well, you best get dressed. The..funeral takes place in, um, an hour."

I nodded as he left the room. After getting up and closing the door, I took off my clothes and changed into a dress that I'd worn at my grandmother's funeral. Then I went downstairs. My father had already changed into a tuxedo. I noticed that he'd stuffed a handkerchief in his pocket. He tried to smile at me and I attempted to smile back as we entered the limo that was waiting outside.

After we got to the cemetery where the funeral was being held, I looked around for Darren. He'd been invited, of course. But I didn't see him. All through the sad service and the filling-in of the tomb, I looked for him. But he didn't show up.

I was decided that I was angry with him again at the end of the funeral. I left through the gate and saw Darren standing there. I immediately stormed over to him.

"Why didn't you come? She was my mother! This was her funeral! You were supposed to be here!" I shouted. Once again I was as angry as I'd ever been toward him.

But this time he was angry too. "I didn't come because I was trying to find out more about the murder while the crime scene was still fresh enough! Anyway, why are you so upset when you're the one who killed her?"

A/N: Sorry it's so short and kind of boring. I'll try to make the next one more eventful.
