------------------------------------------------------------------

A couple of weeks back at the castle and already our workload had risen dramatically since 5th Year, and we were sitting our O.W.Ls then!

“I still honestly don’t know what I’d do if Darcy and Rose didn’t listen in class!” Al exclaimed, laying down his quill and slumping down in his armchair.

“I really don’t know what you’d do either, Albus Potter!” Darcy hissed at him, laughing softly. Rose rolled her eyes theatrically. I smiled to myself; young love!

“Anyway if you’re blessed with beauty and brains,” she said, checking her reflection in the conjured up mirror before her, “then it doesn’t hurt not to pay attention!”

We were in the library, which was teaming with our 6th Year Potions class who were all slogging away, attempting to finish the marathon essay given to us by Professor Hodge, the Potions Master.

I yawned widely, getting to my feet. I hated being stuck in the library; it always made me feel tired, even if, like today it was in the middle of the day.

“Well, I’ve had enough of this; I’m off to Herbology to talk to Professor Longbottom. He wanted to talk to me about our last essay,” She added at Darcy’s quizzical look. Rose’s head snapped away from the mirror still hovering in front of her.

“Hey while you’re there, ask him if he’s made any progress on Professor Lovegood yet!” I shook my head, sighing.

“It’s really none of our business-”

“Oh, come on Mo!” she pleaded, pouting. I laughed quietly.

“Okay! I’ll see if I can’t drop it into the conversation somehow….See you guys in Defence, okay?” I smiled before turning and making my way through the towering shelves of ancient books to the cooler brighter corridor outside.

A few minutes later, I was just pushing aside a tapestry into the first floor corridor, when all of a sudden I was almost thrown back down the secret passageway I’d just come through by a tall, muscular figure. The person caught me by the waist, steadying me and looking up, I came face to face with none other than James Potter.

“Why don’t you w-” I began furiously but, pressing his hand over my mouth, he dragged me back into the dark shadows of the passageway.

“Shut up! Please be-” I wrestled his hand away from my mouth, fuming.

“Get your hands off me! Wha-”

“Shhh!! Please,” he breathed, pressing a finger to my lips and pulling me down into a crouching position.

“Fine!” I hissed, still angry. “What in the name of Merlin’s Y-fronts are you doing?” But all I got was a “Shhh! They’re coming!” Who, I found out in a few seconds. Listening carefully, I heard (although it was a bit muffled due to the tapestry hanging at the entrance) the unmistakable sound of about 12 pairs of stiletto heels clicking along the hard stone floor. James sat beside me was listening intently.

“....see where he went?” A voice that I recognised as Elouise Lamberts spoke eagerly. I sighed; this was ridiculous! Carefully pulling myself to my feet, I quickly began to walk over to the opening.

“What’re you doing?!” James hissed at me as I reached it. I ignored him. Pulling the tapestry to one side I stepped out onto the corridor, leaning against the wall as it fell back into place.

“Looking for Potter?” I asked the group of girls in front of me. As I looked at them, I saw that ALL of them had platinum blonde hair and there weren’t a pair of converses in sight; how could they walk around everyday on those forms of torture?! The girls outlined eyes all locked on me.

“Why? Have you seen him?” Elouise Lambert, the biggest blonde of them all with a pink alice band in her hair and WAY too much make-up on glared at me, putting her hands on her hips and taking a step closer. My hand rested my wand; I was just itching to hex her!

“Well obviously! He’s in the east wing on this floor,” I replied folding my arms, resisting the urge to hit them all with a Bat Bogie Hex.

“How d’you know?” a voice called from the midst of the group.

“Er, because he almost knocked me out the window when he charged past me!” I sighed in exasperation. There was a slight pause.

“Let’s go! He might still be there!” Elouise called to the rest, and with that they were off, clattering down the hallway, leaving me still leaning against the wall shaking my head incredulously.

“They’re gone. You can come out now,” I called back into the passageway. After a couple of moments, James cautiously stepped into the corridor. Once he was satisfied that the coast was clear, he relaxed.

“Thank God! Thought I’d never lose them…” I sighed, unimpressed.

“Yeah, *your welcome*!” I picked up my bag and began to walk away.

“Hey, wait!” He caught up with me, grabbing my arm to slow me down. I looked at him daggers.

“Oh, sorry.” He quick let go of my arm.

“Thank you,” I said, sarcastically. He smiled.

“Look, thanks so much for helping me out there, it-”

“Oh! No I wasn’t concerned about you, I just wanted you to stop trying to suffocate me and then get rid of them so that I could get on with my day.” James laughed as I turned my back on him.

“Yeah, of course!” I stopped dead and whipped back round to face him, my eyebrows at their highest.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” James’ smirk got bigger as he moved closer to where she stood.

“Well, being in a dark secluded passageway that close to someone like me…..I can unders-”

“Excuse me?!” My eyebrows by now had disappeared into my hairline. “Someone like you!” I tried to walk away.

“Come on Morgan, you enjoyed it!” he shot back, blocking my path. I folded my arms.

“Let’s break this down for your tiny little brain shall we, James? I’d enjoy kissing a Blast Ended Skrewt more than being 50 feet away from you! There’s a big picture but you just keep on missing it! Now if you’ll excuse me, some people actually want to get an education.” And, clipping his shoulder as I went, I strode down the marble staircase and out in the grounds.
