A/N: Ok, here's part 2. Hope you enjoy.

Part 2

“Interesting scar,” Draco noted, looking at the crescent moon-shaped scar on my forehead. I put a hand to it self-consciously, murmuring, “Yep.”

“Sort of reminds me of how my father said Harry Potter’s scar will be like,” he continued, staring at me arrogantly. Yes, Draco already seemed like he was going to be one of Hogwarts’ worst gits. The unfortunate thing was that I knew he had decided to attach me onto his bandwagon.

“Harry Potter?” I asked, raising my eyebrows.

“Yep, you’ve heard of him, haven’t you? Surely your parents would have mentioned him,” Draco replied in a know-it-all fashion.

Nodding, I answered, “Once or twice.”

“He’s definitely going to be in Slytherin, don’t you think? I hope he has some more sense than some other wizards around here,” Draco said, glancing over at Crabbe and Goyle, who were devouring their candy. I couldn’t help thinking that if Draco meant like him, Harry Potter should have the sense of an arrogant know-it-all. Of course, I didn’t say such a thing.

“Well, what do you think Hogwarts will be like?” I asked, changing the subject.

“I’m not entirely sure, I mean, I thought my father was joking when he talked about how Dumbledore is running the place, but after seeing the train full of dirty mudbloods, I expect the school will be the same,” Draco responded, obviously not understanding that I wasn’t talking about that kind of thing.

I nodded, saying, “I just hope they have a proper Quidditch field.” As I said this, I hoped that Hogwarts would be all that my father had said it would be.

Draco agreed with me, telling me that his father expected him to make the team in a year or two. I felt like telling him my parents thought the same, but bit it back, deciding that it might not be the wisest thing to speak of. Draco seemed very, very proud of everything he said about himself.

Instead I said, “Too bad first years aren’t allowed their own brooms.”

Just as Draco was nodding at this, the train screeched to a halt.

“It’s about time we got there,” Draco announced as if he had just won a prize. Crabbe and Goyle followed him out of the compartment, and I walked after them, trunk in hand. Descending from the train, we went to the place where all of the owls, toads, and cats were kept in their cages.

Draco took out a cage holding a small, fierce-looking brown owl. Its yellow eyes looked up furiously at the world. As Draco fingered the owl carefully, getting bitten in the process, Crabbe and Goyle each took out a cage holding a slimy brown toad. I, however, kept looking at each cage, so far unsuccessful in my search.

“Nasty little thing,” Draco spat angrily, wiping the blood coming from his finger on his robe. Glaring viciously at the owl, he noticed Crabbe and Goyle with their toads. “Should’ve gotten a toad I ‘spose, but they take forever to deliver the mail,” he said. Picking up his owl’s cage, he noticed I was still looking. “What kind of pet is yours? Toad or owl? I guess there’s still the option of a cat, but I have no idea how a cat can deliver mail. It’s a wonder that a toad even manages to deliver a letter tied onto its back.”

Not turning to talk to him as I spoke, looking through the cages, I replied, “I suppose you could call it a cat, but it’s not really.” Spotting the right cage, I pulled it out. Whatever creature was lying inside was curled up so tight to sleep that its features were hard to see.

“What is it then?” Draco asked, peering inside the cage, and holding his own cage just right so that his owl, whose name was apparently Thorne (Draco had cursed him under his breath), couldn’t bite him.

“Well, scientifically speaking, it’s called a felingriff, but most people just refer to it as a flying cat.” I stuck my finger through the bars of the cage and stroked the small creature. Purring like a cat would, the felingriff (who I had affectionately named Totie), stretched and sat up, allowing Draco to see it better. She had small, feathery wings and her eyes were bird-like.

Draco just stared at it. “Felingriff? It’s a flying cat? You mean it can fly?”

I nodded, though it was self-explanatory. Taking Totie’s cage, we heard a half-giant who Draco said was named Hagrid calling for all first years and headed toward him. As we walked, Draco turned to me and asked, “Are you sure those felingriff things are allowed?”

“Yes, my mother and father have already checked,” I replied matter-of-factly.

Draco said nothing as we walked over to Hagrid, Crabbe and Goyle trailing behind us.

“Is tha’ all of ya?” Hagrid asked, looking down at all of us. “Good. Now, foller me and don’ wander off.” He started off walking, and all of us followed. Within a short amount of time a great, ancient-looking castle came into view. Standing in front of it was a great lake. Many students gasped in awe as they came into view of it.

Hagrid led us down to the edge of the lake, where several small boats were waiting. “Now, on’y four to a boat, go on.” He sat down in one of the boats himself, taking up the entire boat.

I followed Draco down to one of the boats, Crabbe and Goyle just behind us. We all clambered into the boat. It was a rather tight fit with Crabbe and Goyle. Once everyone had found a boat, the boats started moving toward the castle on their own, the oars magically paddling us onward toward the great castle that towered in front of us.

This is really amazing...

And I should probably warn you that if you send me anymore stories in the next week or so, I probably won't be able to read them until the second week of August because I'm on vacation. I've only been able to read this because my cousin has been kind enough to let me use her laptop.

Still send me stuff, though...I'll read it all when I get back home.

You are truly fantastic.

Ha ha, a Felingriff. I like it.

You are also the most proficient fanfic author at nailing the speech of Hagrid the half-giant. Most fail at it. You most certainly do not.

Wonderful - keep me posted. )

Fantastic! I think you really captured Draco's character. It seems like the type of things he'd say. =]

Draco fingered the owl? Sorry, but it sounds awkward.

But everything else is good.
