Love is a Kind of Craziness

-x7x-

“What did he say?” Tom said. “Why do you look so sad? If it’s from Jack, then it must be… good,” Pen said. I closed my eyes and tried to relax, thinking I’m seeing things. But when I opened them again, Tom and Pen where still looking at me, wondering what’s happening. Finally, Tom reached out and took my phone. “I bumped into someone about five seconds ago. It turns out her names Annabelle. She’s very pretty. The point is… I must break up with you. Annabelle and I have a lot in common. So sorry to keep you hoping,” Tom read aloud. “That jerk!” Pen said. “Get your punching gloves after school today, Tom. Will get some cash to buy my own today,” she said. “It seemed so real,” I stammered. Then I shook my head. “Who am I kidding here? I better forgot about him,” I whispered. “Yeah… the sooner we kill him, the sooner you’ll get over him,” Pen said. Then I heard another voice. Dean Pierce. “Hey, guys,” he said. Then he saw my sad face and sat next to me. “What’s wrong, France?” he asked. “Jack wanted to break up with you?” he guessed. “How did you know?” I questioned him. “Happens lots of times,” he shrugged. He put his arm around me and I quickly brushed it away. “Sorry,” he apologized. “If you want me, just call me, ‘kay?” he said, standing up. “Alright,” I whispered. He disappeared. “You know, I have a feeling he likes you,” Pen said. “Not ready for it yet,” I whispered again. “Alright,” Tom said. Then he walked out of the library. Pen and I just sat, an awkward silence surrounded us. Ten minutes later, he ran back in, only to be hushed by the librarian.
