Amy hummed to herself, casually walking through the neighborhood "forest". The "forest" was mostly just a bunch of trees, a river, and then a flowery meadow. It was simple, but all the neighborhood people used it. Now, though, when the air had the bite of winter in it and snow covered the ground, Amy had it all to herself. Coming to the river, Amy had the crazy idea to "ice skate". The river was really more of a stream - just big enough for two people to stand side-by-side on and deep enough to go up to your ankles. Testing the ice by putting one foot on and tapping it repeatedly, Amy was satisfied it was safe and she would not freeze by falling into the ice-cold water. Just in case, though, Amy pulled over her coat and slung it over a snow-free and mostly dry branch on a nearby tree. She stepped on the ice and closed her eyes.

She pulled are hair tie out of a pocket of her jeans as she slid to and fro, and used it to tie her strawberry blonde hair back into a ponytail. If only she didn't have bangs... Well, if you were playing at this wishing game, Amy wished she didn't have freckles, either, so what did it matter?

Amy shivered. She was sliding on the ice on a hill, so she decided one last time down hill, and then she'd be done. Still not opening her eyes, Amy slipped all the way downhill. When she started to get off, she slipped, and fell into something wet and watery. Was the ice melting already? But... Amy had checked for rocks frozen in the ice before she'd started skating, and there'd been none. Opening her eyes, Amy gasped as she sat up and looked around. What happened? Did she pull a Rip Van Wrinkle and fell asleep until summer?

No. The landscape didn't look familiar - she wasn't even on a hill. Amy stood up, enjoying the chill of the stream on her feet in the hot sun as she thought. Okay. When she left, she was "ice-skating" on the neighborhood "river" in the neighborhood "forest". It was winter. She tripped, and now, all of a sudden, she was in an unfamiliar landscape.

Could this be magic? Her little sister was blabbing about how she saw a fairy and stuff all the time. Nobody took her seriously, but that didn't mean what she said wasn't true. For now, Amy would put it to magic or a dream.

Amy started walking. And walking. And she kept walking. It was going to be a long walk. When she crested a hill, Amy was excited to see a beach. She ran down onto the warm sand, kicking off her shoes and ran a little bit out into the water.

Suddenly, she saw something in the water and quickly strayed on land completely. Someone surfaced. Amy soon saw it wasn't a someone - it was a some/thing/. A mermaid? She had pale blue-green hair, gold eyes and... light blue skin. Her top was dark blue with a gold thread on where it kind of looped around her neck. Her fin was the same color as her hair (but a little more blue) and it had a line of a sparkly purple on her fin. As soon as Amy processed this, another being had appeared.

She had colorful wings - blue, purple, pink - and had purple hair and purple eyes. She wore a white dress that suited her figure to a T.

"Hello," said the fairy - at least, that's what Amy assumed she was - smiling, "My name is Annora, and I represent that of air and light." Amy recognized that from her Latin class at school - it meant honor.

"Hi," said the mermaid, "My name's Zeezee." Zeezee grinned and added, "I'm a messenger for those extra-special beings that are completly of water - they can't surface, so I'm the messenger for those peoples. When my eyes turn a dark blue, they're speaking through me. My voice changes, too, so I guess it'd be pretty obvious anyway." Zeezee's grin widened.

Zeezee sounded like a young teenager - which is the age she looked. Of course, Annora appeared in her twenties and sounded like she was /centuries/ old, so Amy decided she couldn't be certain.

"Zeezee..." Annora began, but Zeezee interrupted her with an "I know."

Zeezee closed her eyes, and when she opened them again they were glowing a dark blue. Zeezee spoke again, but her voice sounded like a bunch of centuries-old people.

"Hello. We are sorry to pull you in on such short notice, but we could not get to you otherwise," the people said through Zeezee.

It was silent for a few moments after that, before Amy exclaimed, "Wait, WHAT?!"
