Ever since she was five years old, China Fry had been attending funerals regularly. Everyone, no word of a lie, who had spoken to her since her fifth birthday had died not long after. All except Ella-Grae Harris. Ella-Grae was China's best friend in the entire universe. They told each other everything, shared everything, and sometimes they would even kiss. Maybe they were a little more than best friends, but all they had was each other.

China had beautiful, wavy, long, blond hair framing her little heart shaped face. Her gigantic blue eyes with long lashes perfectly complimented her slender build. Ella-Grae, usually called Grae, was skinny with a round face, a little pointed chin and shaggy, chin-length black hair. She had bright, apple-green eyes and a thin nose that stuck out further than she would've liked. Grae liked to keep rats. They seemed like an odd couple, one being beautiful and mysterious, the other a cute little tomboy, but fate doesn't pick favourites.

School was difficult for both of them, China being mute so she doesn't kill anybody, and Grae being rather eccentric. It was especially difficult when their peers spread rumours about China, because no one would listen to Grae stand up for her. And when they spread rumours about Grae, China was forced to remain in dead silence. It hurt both of them to be away from the other for long periods of time, not because they were obsessed, but because of a deeper connection that was difficult to explain, never mind trying to describe it. It was like... nothing you could ever imagine.

China Fry loved to draw. it was her form of creative expression, it was how things started for her; as a drawing. And she was good, too. She told Grae that it was her friend James that taught her to draw, simple anime characters, but from there she evolved her own style, complex but cutesy, whimsical and adventurous drawings that sparked your imagination. China could look at her picture, satisfied, and begin a story, poem, painting, anything pretty much. Grae drew to inspire, not her self, like China did, but to inspire others.

to be continued!!!
