The snow fell as if each flake were a feather. Pieces of it glowed in the darkness like white fireflies and painted the trees as if they were cakes. The ground was white until it met the many tree roots that littered the woodland floor. The animals had gone already, their keen senses had already smelt the danger that the darkness held and the silence of their absence echoed. The moon made a silver path of light in the snow but the rest of the light was broken between the bear tree branches.

A small girl walked upon the moonlit path. Her brown coat was done up loosely with cogs and her blonde hair hung limply upon her shoulders. Her eyes were blue and clear but dazed. In a graceful movement she flew out her arm and let the snow land on her mittens. She watched it with curiousity. She wondered briefly what it was and why someone had made it to be so beautiful.

A shadow lurked in the distance. It staggered quietly and held onto the three trunks whenever it lost balance. It smelt the air and smiled a smile that only a shadow could master. His foot crushed a twig with a short snap. The girl did not notice and continued to admire the snow. The shadow continued. The girl only began to notice his presence when he stood in front of the fragile creature. The moonlight didn't dare touch the shadow and leaked over his outline. The girl looked up at the shadow with the same curiousity.

"Are you lost?," The shadow asked. His voice was deep and harsh. The girl remained quiet. She blinked. "You won't be lost for long, little girl," The shadow grinned, bearing two gleaming white fangs underneath his lips. The moonlight made them shine slightly. He began to advance and the girl began to cry. "Stay still, little girl," he purred. "This won't take long,". The girl tried to push him away but failed as the strong arms began to surround her. They pushed back her hair and his fingers crept along her neck. The small girl shivered.

Suddenly the arms and fingers began to drop and the arms weaken. His eyes widened in shock and a small red stain gleamed upon the shadow. It grew. The shadow grunted and with the help of an unknown hand that appeared upon his shoulder, he was thrown back into the moonlight. The light gave him an angelic glow that was far from peaceful. His hair was short and blonde and his face cringed into an expression of agony.

Another person stood in the shadow. A stained sword glinted in the darkness. The sword was quickly put away. The girl examined the man on the ground and tears began to form.

"Dad?," She whispered from behind her mitten. She got down on her knees and began to push him gently. "Dad, Dad, Dad!," She pleaded. The figure grunted. The shadow bent down and his soft, kind features were revealed in the darkness. His eyes were light but serious and his hair was black and full. The girl looked at the face.

"Why did you do this to my dad?," She asked the face calmly. The figure grabbed her hand was a sense of urgency.

"We have to run. He is still alive and if we don't get away he will come after us," He said softly but hurriedly. The small girl looked at her dad.

"But I don't want to leave Dad," The small girl replied, letting a tear escape and rubbing her mitten against her cheek. The man sighed and clasped tighter upon her mitten. He half dragged her away from the fallen man but the girl still resisted. He took no notice of her complainants, cries, tears and pleas. He ran into the forest, dragging the small girl behind him.

Oh no! Not another vampire story!

I'm sorry, guys and girls for making a vampire story. I feel really cheesy when I write them. I should also really finish my other story first but I just became really self critical half-way through and BAM.

Thanks for reading! ♥
