"And now, Ryma and Sai's performance of the song, Fall For You..."

He gazed up at the scene in awe, lured and ensnared to the performing stand by the voice of an angel. She sang to him with open feelings, not something he was completely used to. Who was this ethereal and dazzling being? Why did his breath catch in such a way? Roped could not tear his eyes away...

I gazed down at the crowd. They seemed to like the music, but I couldn't be certain whether that was because we sang well, or it was a song they knew. I'm guessing it was the latter. As my eyes meandered, I finally let them rest upon a familiar face. He was staring directly left of me, just staring. I didn't blame him. Smiling, I flicked my eyes over to my partner, Ryma. She didn't notice. She had her eyes closed and...wasn't really smiling as she had grilled into me all of those practices. She was nervous.

I started doing side steps-you know, that thing people do when they can't think of any good dance moves-and elbowed her lightly. Instantly, she returned to the world. Allowing my greatest friend to follow my eyes, my smile became even larger and her face brightened. It was all for the best. Ryma sang louder and more confidently after that.

"Tonight will be the night that I will fall for you, over again-" From then, her eyes never left his.

After the performance, I left Ryma so that Roped may have his chance. It filled me up inside to see my two friends happy, and this was probably the only way: when their feelings were let out. Still, I had to see. I sat on the otherside of a wall with my knees bent, and listened.

Ryma's feet shuffled, turning. "Er-hello, Ryma." Her breath caught, so did mine. I sucked in enough oxygen to last this conversation. "I...um..."

"That song, it was for you." Smooth, Ryma! To be honest, sometimes I thought she was hopeless in the game of love-and at being tactful.

Roped's voice was shaky. "Oh." That was all. I was beginning to fear how this'd end up. He did love her though, it was written upon his face from the very day he met her! "I-I'm sorry, but...I can't say that I agree."

A large sob confirmed my lingering plans of avenging my poor friend's soul. She had been excited about this carnival for so long and, so secretly that she did not even tell me, this song was not just dedicated to a fun time.

It was all for him.

"Okay then. Well, see you, Roped." Her feet dragged on the gravel as she walked a few metres, a whimper threatened to escape from my mouth.

A sigh, I don't know who by. "Wait, Ryma. Ryma!" He ran after her. He caught her in his arms. I dared to peek. "It is true, I do not agree with the song, because I had already fallen for you a long time ago, and I don't understand how you did not see that. I love you, Ryma."

"But," she whispered, "you will be gone soon. I wouldn't be able to bear the pain of losing you forever."

"I'm sorry, Ryma, but I want to spend as much time with you as I can before I go. And nothing in the entire world could possibly tear me away from you forever. Come, let us be together whilst we can, or I won't live to see another day, I s wear it's true." With that, Ryma slid her arms around his waist and held on tightly. Entire minutes after the embrace, they left for the ceremony. I remained where I was and let slip a sigh on my own. I was glad my friend had found happiness, but there was still an abyss left empty within my heart, my core. I got up and headed in the direction opposite that which my friends had gone to give them some time. Exiting the carnival gates, I made my way down endless streets to a place I was supposed to call my home.
