The prince that smiles shiningly and promised royal loot,
The sisters standing smirkingly and shifting side to side,
The maiden singing seductively with her silken cries.

Ingredients for a pot of soup,
The flavor we all know.
But what if we adjust the loop?
Change sunshine into snow?

The stinky slipper sliding off her sticky little foot,
The prince that sighs and sadly calls the sad results moot,
The sisters spitting spectacularly and spurning their sibling,
The maiden standing silently and abandoning her dreams.

All the players in their spots,
Full of aching new remorse.
Giving up what they have lost,
Losing both carriage and horse.
---
The shaken slipper lies alone torn at toes and seams,
The social prince defines superlative dreams,
The shining sister waves goodbye to her counterpart,
The cleaning girl is weeping with a broken heart.

The saddened shard of glass is all that remains,
The sumptuous prince is happy, albeit lacking any brains,
One sister sits at quiet home, the other on her golden throne,
And the remaining daughter has nothing but her aching frozen bones.
