Grey Sanity

By Aeroo.

---

Longitudes and latitudes

Take refuge in their platitudes.

Can't you hear the paper screaming?

As the poet struggles, weeping,

To recount what he once saw

In the wide world's gaping maw.

(April, May, November, June.)

---

Diamond words of clarity

The frightening hilarity

He dances in his halls of bone,

So beautiful, yet so alone

Resplendent waves of pain and fear,

A single ruby blood-red tear.

(Typing madly, scratching runes.)

---

Shut the windows, lock the door,

Pin him to the marble floor.

Constricting bands of silk and thread,

Binding him from toe to head.

Horrors hiding in wide eyes

For every thing, there is a price.

(Seagull, Robin, Jay and Loon.)

---

Stay within society,

Keep ever strict sobriety

Walk the paved, well known road,

Ignore the brutal blood and bones.

Hit him with Dementia's cane,

Break the fragile, rebelling brain.

(Spear, sword, red harpoon.)

---

Cast a net of now lost dreams,

Ensnare the woeful flying free

Transform them into one dull face,

Who has a niche, who has a place

For who would want to be the one,

Who stands above, who stands alone.

(Remaining grace, grant us our boon.)

---

And as he sobs for what has been,

Scars adorn the frigid skin

Forgotten pain, forgotten love,

Wheeling ravens, bleeding doves

Snowfall,

Moonshine,

Rainfall,

Sublime.

He is a poet nevermore.

(Above dead stars, below live moon.)

FIN.

AN: The "Can't you hear the paper screaming?" line was inspired by one of Cricket's nonsense poems. Please give her proper credit for this, everyone!! Basically I owe her for the idea of the entire poem. Thank you for the inspiration.

It's supposed to be about a young poet who lives in a world which never does anything new or creative, and he's starting to become like them. The poem follows him as he eventually goes insane from attempting to break from society.

Thank you for reading!

Wow, that was really good. Also, thanks for explaining it or else I most likely wouldn't have gotten it until I read it like 6 more times. (Because it was so beautifully written.)

WOAH!

I read this with my mouth open, and was like, "This girl is AMAZING!" Which, you are.

And I inspired you? That has to be the best thing I've heard all day! You're so sweet!
