The rain was pouring down on the classroom roof so hard, that it sounded like someone was dropping millions of hammers onto it. I looked back down to my history test. Which french queen was beheaded in 1793? I should've remembered this, but I couldn't because it was the one time that Luke Anderson was looking straight at me with a smile on his face. I realised that he could have noticed something embarrassing about me. Was my fly un-done? Did I smudge my mascara? Do I have leftover vegemite on my face from this morning? No, nothing was wrong with me, for once. "What?" I whispered rudely, which I shouldn't have. I've liked this guy since kindergarten. He shook his head and got back to his work. Suddenly, the home bell rang, and I almost jumped out of my skin. I rushed to the door, but before I could get there, a mob of rebels pushed me. I fell on to the ground, and my books came down with me. I sighed. It was amazing how one person could have so much bad luck. But at the same time, it was amazing how much good luck I got at that moment. "That always happens to me, don't worry," Luke said. I knew that it never happened to him, though. He was the most popular guy in school, no one would dare push him. "Always happens to me too," I replied, laughing. As he helped me pick up my books, I noticed he had a Green Day backpack. "You like Green Day too?" I asked. Greenday was my favourite band. I had posters of them all over my walls and other surfaces at home, including the dog kennel outside. "Yeah. I went to their concert last week, that's where I got the backpack from." "I was dying to go to the concert, but I had to babysit my little brother," I said, rolling my eyes. He laughed. "Come on kids, time to go home now. I have an important meeting I have to attend," said Mrs Stephens, my History Teacher. "See ya. Maybe we could talk about Green Day more tomorrow," I suggested. He nodded and turned to the door. As I walked out after him, I was pretty sure I wasn't going to think about anyone or anything else tonight.
