Anime, or Japanese style cartoons, are becoming increasingly popular for good reason. The artwork of the shows is unique and the characters and stories told in the shows are complex and fascinating. Many of the anime series have sequential shows that use an entire season to work through a story.
Anime has long been popular in Japan, where it originated, but it has slowly grown into a mainstream form of entertainment in the United States and other western countries. Anime characters have childlike features with large eyes and exaggerated emotions. They generally have personalities that seem very real, usually complete with flaws and reservations we see in ourselves.
