Detective Shows

I really do love a good detective or police show but at the moment our tv schedule is being bombarded with cr.appy shows that have no storyline outside of the main characters love lives Don't get me wrong I like a good sub plot, but personal stuff should really remain the sub plot and not take over the whole show, otherwise it's basically a soap/drama.
I mean, what happened to the cases, isn't that the basis of a crime show. Isn't the point trying to find out whodunnit not what kind of car your co worker has and what flowers he/she likes.
In these new shows most of the time seems to be spent either haveing a jolly ol time with absolutely everyone who works in the 'force' or running away from exploding cars without getting your hair messed up, neither of which are humanly possible.
It appears Australian tv is getting sloppier and sloppier, what happened to the British crime shows we used to get, at least they had some personality -.-
Now we're stuck with these pathetic casts all with their apparently deep an husky accents trying to work out which palm tree looks better outside their office.

Just wondering are detective shows over there in Britan ,America, anywhere i nthe world as bad as our home made ones? Or am I just hallucinating -.-

I'm not sure if you'd count the CSI's as a detective show but I love them along with NCIS.

I love Inspector Clueso, Sue Thomas F.B.Eye, and Monk is pretty good.
