(This Sonic Universe fanfic was made for a contest centered on this pic (link), and is about Silver the hedgehog and Blaze the cat.)
Story Title: Silver-In-A-Box Blaze the cat scowled as she ran about looking for her dear friend, Silver the hedgehog, but she didn’t see him. Sighing, she called “Siiiiiiiiiilveeeer!” for what felt like the ninetieth time. There was no reply. She was just about to walk away from the giant oak when she heard something rustling just behind it. Slowly, cautiously, Blaze stepped closer to the tree and peered around it. And there was Silver, sitting at the base of the tree, sighing, and wearing a cardboard box on his head. Blaze paused and stared a minute, then said, “Silver, why in the world do you have a box on your head?” “I’m ugly!” , came the somewhat muffled reply. He shifted to turn toward Blaze. She could now see that the box had three straight, horizontal lines drawn on the front to represent a face, with two small holes in the center of the eye-lines for sight. “What gave you that idea?” Blaze asked, crouching beside him. “Shadow. Sonic. Scourge. And just everyone, really.” Silver responded in a sulky tone of voice. Keeping her sudden annoyance toward Sonic and Shadow from her voice, she asked, “What did they say?” “They tell me that my hair is stupid, and that it looks like I wear eyeliner like an emo kid.” Silver said, huffing. “Scourge went so far as to say that my face would be better hidden away.” He sighed. “I took his advice.” “Aww, Silver, you’re not ugly.” Blaze said sweetly. “Come, take off that silly box.” “I don’t want to. You’re just saying that to make me feel better.” He sounded even sulkier than before. “No, I’m not; you have such nice eyes and a good smile, and the box covers that up.” Blaze said softly, offering him a smile. “You- you really think so?” Silver stuttered. Blaze nodded. The brown box glowed cyan as Silver used his powers to lift it off his head and place it on the forest floor beside him. “Thanks, Blaze.” “You’re very welcome, buddy.” Blaze said, helping Silver to stand. “Now, I was going to invite you to lunch with me… would you like that?” “Yes! I really would.” Silver replied. And the two walked off together, the box sitting by the tree already forgotten. Fin.
