Yes, you heard me. The finale was a week and a bit ago (last Tuesday - the 12th of May - to be exact), but people are still talking about the results. At least, I still am and other BL fans are, too.
The final three were Mike - an 18 year old college freshman, Tara - a former model, and Helen - a 48 year old mother. Mike and his father were in the bottom two the previous week - which wasn't live, obviously - and America (and myself, who voted online and used a fake zip code to fool it into thinking I was American xD) got to vote for who they wanted in the finale. Mike and Ron came out early in the three hour long finale so it could be announced which was in the final three. When Mike walked out, my jaw literally dropped. He looked GORGEOUS. I was thinking, he HAS to win. He looks healthy, and amazing, and I swear I could see some muscles from under his shirt. xD Then there was the at-home competition. On the Biggest Loser, the eliminated players are sent home and expected to lose weight on their own, and whoever lost the most weight at home would win a cash prize of $100,000 U.S. Jerry, the oldest contestant ever in BL history who was only on campus for two weeks, won the prize by losing an incredible 47.97% of his original body weight (going from 369lbs to 192lbs - a loss of 177lbs). I didn't think he looks all that healthy, but he is old, and his body reacted differently to the loss of so much weight, of course. He is off most of his medication now, though, so he must be healthier than he used to be, right? Here is the WORST part... The final weigh in was as follows: Third Place: Tara. 294lbs down to 139lbs. A loss of 155lbs, or 52.72%. I must add, she looked stunning. She looked healthy. She still had her womanly curves, and a beautiful hour glass shape. She's in model shape, again! Her BMI went from 43.4 to 20.5. Second Place: Mike. 388lbs down to 181. An AMAZING loss for 207lbs, and 53.35%! Like I said, he looked smokin'! College girls are going to be going crazy for him now. xD His BMI went from 54.1 to 25.2. The winner? Helen. From 257lbs to a shocking 117lbs. A loss of 140lbs, or 54.47%. Her BMI went from 41.5 to a low 18.9. Anything under 18.5 is considered underweight. Helen looked much too thin. She weighs less than I do now! She looked really unhealthy, like she had gone from one extreme to another. Jillian Michaels (one of the trainers) had told Helen and Tara to loosen up and stop over-working yourself, and to not go under 120lbs. Both Helen and Tara had been working way too hard, and Jillian told them that they need to find balance. If you keep working that hard, and then stop, you'll gain weight back. Helen didn't seem to listen to Jillian, obviously, as she mentioned that she had hired three trainers, did very aggressive workouts, and she went under a healthy weight for her. If she had maybe kept five of those pounds she lost, she would have looked more healthy. In my opinion, Helen's selfish. She said she was in it to get healthy, but I don't think so. When she and her daughter were up for elimination, unlike most mothers, Helen pleaded for herself to stay in the game, when her daughter needed it much more. She said, "It's not my time to go. Please don't send me home. I believe Sharon can do this at home, and I can't. Not now." Or something along those lines. Her daughter was sent home. Every time she got in the bottom two, she pleaded to stay. She said she still had lots of weight to lose, when really, she didn't. And obviously she could do it at home, because she did lose most of that weight at home. She only lost 90 or so of those 140lbs on the ranch. Before they had gone home, Tara had lost the highest percentage, followed closely by Mike. Helen wasn't close. I think that she lost the whole idea of getting healthy, and was focused on winning the money. She was selfish throughout the competition, and she played a mean game, I'll give her that. I was watching TMZ a couple nights ago (maybe more like a couple days after the finale of BL), and they caught Jillian (the female trainer). They asked why she was so tired, and she said she hadn't slept much since the finale. They didn't get her to elaborate on why, which would have been great, but I can only guess Jillian didn't like the results much either. To be honest, during the course of the show, Jillian seemed to be a bit biased in favour of Tara and Mike, always talking and training with them one-on-one. Anyway, I thought the results were quite depressing. I was really pulling for Mike, and I would have been happy if Tara won too, but Helen... Even my mother, who weighs 104lbs, thinks Helen is too thin. Here's a little clip about the finale: YouTube - Helen Phillips Wins Biggest Loser Season 7 Thoughts? EDIT: Did I mention Mike holds the record for most weight lost by anyone on campus, and Tara the record for most weight lost by a woman on campus? Tara also never fell below the yellow line, and won at least half of all the challenges... |
