The Others: Heroes VS Villains

It’s the year 2020 in a dystopian reality where one tenth of humans have superpowers. There is extreme discrimination between the Regulars, without powers, and the Others, the ones with powers. There are separate schools, separate hospitals, separate housing communities... Nearly everything is separate, and if the Regulars had their way, most of them would want the Others completely moved from their society to their own country.

Some of the Others have had it with the Regulars discriminating them, treating them like second class citizens because they’re a minority. They figure that they have the power to destroy the Regulars, so why should they have to take that kind of attitude from them. They’ve already destroyed Regular government buildings and have since been called terrorists and Villains.

The other half of the Others are more understanding of the Regulars, knowing that most of the discrimination comes from a fear of the unknown. They believe that the Villains are giving all the Others a bad reputation, and only giving more reasoning for the Regulars to treat them unfavorably. This half of the others, the Heroes, are trying to counter the Villains by defending the Regulars, trying to show to them that they’re not all evil.

This has caused the Villains to hate the Heroes as much as the Regulars. To them, the Heroes are traitors to their kind and that they are weak to let the Regulars step all over them after what they’ve said and done to the Others simply because they’re different than them.
Are you a Regular, or an Other? Hero or Villain?

Two Regulars can give birth to an Other in rare instances (less than 1%. After all, it had started as a mutation of human). However, many Regulars do not accept Others, and it has gotten to the point where pregnant Regulars have ultrasound screenings done to detect this mutation, and if they find they’re having an Other, they will often abort the child.

One Regular and one Other have a 25% chance to have an Other, however this relationship doesn’t occur often because relationships between Regulars and Others is, currently, illegal – not only marriage, but being found in any type of romantic relationship will end with the Regular being arrested, and the Other being executed. There are a few underground Regular/Other relationships, but it is very dangerous.

Two Others have a 50/50 chance of giving birth to a Regular or an Other.

Many Other babies are miscarried or stillborn. There are also problems for the mothers, as 25% of these mothers dying either during pregnancy (due to complications or, in some occasions, being killed by Regulars in an attempt to stop Others from ‘breeding’) or dying in childbirth.

All Others have ‘unnatural’ colored hair. This is what, visually, sets them apart from the Regulars. Although Others are not legally allowed to buy hair dye to change this, some others manage to either steal natural colored hair dye or buy it on the black market in an attempt to ‘blend in’ to the Regulars. Villains would never want to do that, unless they were doing it to go undercover to gain information, because they’re proud of their powers.

Powers: Others have three type of powers – offensive, defensive, or abilities.

Offensive powers are classified as anything that can hurt another human being using no other outside forces or objects (ie. telekenis is NOT offensive, even though for example, flinging a car at someone could cause injury, as it requires something in addition to the power itself). These include, but are not limited to: super strength, pyro, generation of sharp claws/weapons, or anything involving the generation of acids or poisons.

Defensive powers are classified as anything that can weaken or stop an attack, or can heal/fix a person/thing after an attack. These include, but are not limited to: forcefield generation, an invulnerability or resistance to bullets/fire/etc, or any healing or regenerating powers.

Abilities are any powers which don’t fall into the other categories. This is the most common category of power. These include, but are not limited to: flight, mind-related abilities such as telekenisis or telepathy, teleportation, transfiguration, invisibility, duplication, time manipulation, superhuman senses, or ability to control a non-harmful element such as wind/earth/mechanics.

Weaknesses: Others are not indestructible. In fact, they are as fragile as Regulars (eg. A shot through the heart will kill them). Obviously, an Other with a defensive power would be harder to take down.

Age (18+):
Faction (Regular/Hero/Villain/Undecided):
Power (if applicable):
Appearance (image or description, or both):

Name: Julia Hills
Age (18+): 22
Faction (Regular/Hero/Villain/Undecided): Hero
Power (if applicable): Telekenisis
Appearance (image or description, or both): Pin by Jackie Tennyson, aka Crash on Colorful Hair From Blonde to Pur… Curvy, average height, long bubblegum pink hair, glasses, fair skin and round brown eyes.
Personality: Julia is a sweet, girly, flirty young woman who's loyal and always looks for the good in people. On the other hand, she's naïve, clumsy, and ditzy.
Other: Julia's parents are both Others. She is the youngest, and only Other, of three children. Most Other's have a hard time getting good jobs, even if they're skills are helpful simply because they'd rather hire their 'own kind'. Most Other families are poor, and Julia's family is no exception. She loves fashion, so she sews her own clothing because it's cheaper than buying anything nice. She decided to become a Hero because she thinks that Regulars are just scared and that they'll eventually start to grow out of it. She thinks that the Villains are trying to fight fire with fire, and that it's only going to make matters worse and cause more separation to fight them.

Name: Eric France
Age (18+): 19
Faction (Regular/Hero/Villain/Undecided): Villain
Power (if applicable): Power to control, harness, and use electricity.
Appearance (image or description, or both): Half shaved off platinum white hair and a few facial piercing, bright blue eyes, average height and a little on the thin side.
Personality: Lazy, cold, and dispassionate, a lot of the time Eric prefers to sit around and do nothing, not caring too much to get involved in things. He's is highly intelligent though.
Other: Eric's mother was a Regular, and his father an Other. They stayed in hiding, but when the government found them when Eric was 10, they killed his father in front of him and sent his mother to jail. Eric had hid from them and was never found, but he knew that if he had been that they would have killed him. Watching his father be shot made him hate Regulars, and want vengeance on every Regular. Since then he's been living in his Grandmother's house. She passed a few years back, so he's been living there alone.

Julia walked into The Edge, a popular Other's karaoke bar where she met up every Friday night with some of the other local heroes. The place was a little more dingy on the outside than anywhere a Regular would go, but inside the place was amazingly decorated. The owner had the power to reconfigure a space in an instant, so everyday The Edge looked a little different - and always, always spotless.

Jules was wearing her favourite pink rimmed glasses and baby blue knee-length tea dress. She saw her group sitting at a large booth near the back, so she walked over to join them. On the way over, she waved to a bartender and asked them to get her a Pina Colada. She sat down at the booth and smiled, "Hey, everyone. Another crazy week, am I right?"

Eric was sitting around the round table at the Villain headquarters, which unlike the Heroes, was an actual designated building where Villains all over the state met up whenever they got called over. It was far more serious of an organization than the Heroes, as most of the time Heroes would simply hear of attacks on the news and whoever was nearby would run in trying to stop the Villains. It made some sense. The Heroes never really made any plans, because they never organized an attack against anyone. All the planning came from the Villianous side.

He was leaning back on his chair, his hand up toward the light above him as he sucked up the electricity from it and then shot it back up, causing the light to flicker on and off. "Anybody know what boss wants today?"

Boss, as he was simply called, was never personally at the meetings. In fact, nobody knew what he looked like. Boss would send out texts to the Villains and when the meeting started, his voice would come over the intercom and tell them their next assignment, showing images of what had to be done on the screen. Not only that, but his, or possibly her, voice was so synthesized that it barely sounded human at all.

Name: Louise "Bones" Burton.
Age (18+): 21.
Faction (Regular/Hero/Villain/Undecided): Villain.
Power (if applicable): Louise has the power to manipulate her bones any way she chooses. She can shoot finger bones like bullets, for example, or grow claws from her hands, or even grow and pull out bones from any part of her body to use as weapons. Louise has a super healing ability, and can also harden her bones to be as strong as steel.
Appearance (image or description, or both): Picture reference hereLouise has long black and red hair and blue eyes. She's skinny, average height and flat chested. She likes to wear gothic style clothing.
Personality: Louise prefers to work alone or with her sister, tho she will work with Others if the situation demands it. She hates Regulars, seeing them as being unfairly prejudiced towards Others, and has killed in the past, tho she puts it down as self defence. She can be spiteful towards other women, and gets on far better with men.
Other: Louise grew up with her twin sister, Amber, an Other who's ability is the power to control the forces of nature. Neither girl knew their parents; the girls were left at an orphanage soon after birth. Both girls grew up in the orphanage and were physically and mentally abused by Regulars, which made them hate Regulars. They ran away from the orphanage as soon as they could, and soon learned to survive on their own. Both sisters now work together as Villains and live mainly by stealing, using their powers to attack Regulars. Louise hates and despises Others who think that the two races can live in harmony, and she's not afraid to show her feelings.

Name: Amber "Weather Witch" Burton.
Age (18+): 21.
Faction (Regular/Hero/Villain/Undecided): Villain.
Power (if applicable): The ability to control the forces of nature.
Appearance (image or description, or both): Picture reference here Amber has long black and blue hair. She and her sister Louise are fraternal twins, and don't look identical. Amber is average height and build, and has a small bust. Her eyes are grey, and go completely white whenever she uses her powers.
Personality: Amber is fairly laidback as a general rule, and is fiercely loyal to her sister. She will fight like a tiger if she sees any Other in trouble, even killing the Regular if she sees fit. She has an extremely hot temper and hates injustice. Amber can also be blunt, and extremely rude. She gets envious of rich Regulars, and will single them out to attack if she covets any of their belongings.
Other: (see Louise's backstory)

Louise and Amber were sitting at the bar in the Villain's hang out. Both sisters were talking quietly among themselves when Eric spoke. Louise shrugged and answered him.

"Who knows?" she replied. "But my sister and I think that we ought to attack The Edge. Those traitors would have us all on our knees and begging the Regulars to let us stay here."

Amber nodded in agreement. "Yeah," she said. "They only hate us cuz they know that we're the next step on the evolutionary ladder. They know that in a few hundred years, they could end up extinct. I say we show those traitors exactly why we're the superior race."

Both sisters had lived on their wits for a long time. As well as hating Regulars, they despised the Others who chose to concilate and protect Regulars, seeing them as traitors. Amber and Louise both went under other names to protect their privacy; Louise's other name was Bones, and Amber's was Weather Witch. Neither sister had any problem with killing, if the situation demanded it.

Name: Jasmine Smith
Age (18+): 18
Faction (Regular/Hero/Villain/Undecided): Hero
Power (if applicable): Adoptive Muscle Memory
Appearance (image or description, or both): { Picture } { Picture of hair }Jasmine has dark red hair that changes into a pale pink, green eyes, and an hour glass figure. She loves the burlesque style clothing and anything along the sexier side of things.
Personality: Jasmine is compassionate towards both sides. She feels that the Regulars are just afraid of them but also sees how the Others came to their reasoning. All Jasmine truly wants is a peaceful city. However, she is quite the control freak. She is always organized and tidy as well as always on time (except when she is trying to save someone). She is also very competitive and will do everything possible to win.
Other: Jasmine grew up in a home with one regular part and one other. Just like Eric, her parent's were found out. Her father was taken away to prison while her mother was hunted down and shot. Jasmine was only able to escape because she hit in the air vents in her room. She, however, saw her near death experience as a second chance. A chance to hopefully bring peace to the world by telling her story and by her actions.

Name: Matthew "Hunter" Jacobson
Age (18+): 23
Faction (Regular/Hero/Villain/Undecided): Villian
Power (if applicable): Mind Control
Appearance (image or description, or both): { Picture }Matthew has a nice beard, brown eyes, and brown short hair. He also has a partial sleeve tattoo.
Personality: Hunter is very blunt and straight forward. He cares only about himself and likes to be alone. He fights with others, mainly to help the cause, and would love to be the president one day.
Other: Hunter was born to two regular parents. During the ultrasound, nothing was detected but after a few years, it was apparent he had a power. This being said, his parents quickly dropped him at an orphanage for Other's. Because of this, he has hated all regulars.

Name: Isabella "Lizzy" Whiteveil
Age (18+): 20
Faction (Regular/Hero/Villain/Undecided): Regular/Hero
Power (if applicable): n/a (But she might develop one later)
Appearance (image or description, or both): { Picture }Isabella has long dark chestnut hair with blue eyes and full lips. She has a smaller chest and more straight-line figure.
Personality: Lizzy LOVES to flirt. She loves to have a good time and party. She's pretty nonchalant and typically goes with the flow. She, however, loves to hang out with the others. She finds them fascinating and typically good people. She is on a board to help other people realize this and to bring forth a more community type atmosphere.
Other: She is the daughter of a very powerful senator. A senator which does not believe in the remaining existent of the Other's. While his daughter may be more compassionate, he would love to see all of them terminated.

Jasmine was walking into The Edge. She loved meeting up with the people here and loved to sing. She was wearing a simple black lace corset with a red skirt that was high above her knees but lower in the back with simple black pumps. She walked over to the bar, ordered a mixed drink, and then went over to Julia. "Hey Jules." She said, grabbing a seat.

Hunter was sitting in his chair, flipping through a Marvel's comic book. "Why would any of us know what the Boss wants? It's not like he calls any of us personally." He replied, annoyed. "But he needs to hurry. I don't have all day."

Lizzy was also walking into the Edge. She was hoping to get some comments for an article she was writing and also just to hang.

TheHayleyDoll 04-07-2014 09:50 AM

((LadyBast, you missed that all Others have irregular colored hair. :P Just feel free to change it in the written appearance, don't have to change the image.))

Julia smiled at Jasmine, "Hey. Now that we're all here, I wanted to mention that we all did a super awesome job this weak defending against the Villains. Only 27 Regulars died in the apartment fire of Tuesday."

"Only 27? It was a low rise apartment with less than 40 people living there. We saved less than half." A young, nerdy looking blue haired man replied.

"We saved some though." Julia replied, trying to think positively. Her drink was set on the table and even though it was just as easy to pick the drink up physically, she would levitate it in front of her when she wanted a drink. She noticed Lizzy walking in and waved her over. Since the booth was now full, she waved her hand and telekineticly pulled a chair over from another table.

Julia had a slight crush on Lizzy. She found her absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. Both she and Lizzy had flirty personalities, and although she was pretty sure the attraction wasn't mutual because she had never seen or heard anything to cause her to believe Lizzy wasn't straight, she enjoyed the flirtation between them.

"If it's what Boss wants. He's usually pretty good with-" Eric started to reply to the twins but stopped as he noticed Hunter reading a Marvel comic. "Firstly, don't question boss or he'll hear you and you could end up dead, and secondly, that better not be some lame ass Superman comic or something."

The large TV screen at the headquarters flashed on, showing a digital looking satellite map of the city. A static voice came over the intercom:

"You have two targets this week. One target is Center Mall."

The map zoomed into the city downtown area and highlighted a large building in yellow. The map part of the screen move to the left, and now on the right side of the screen was a rotating 3-D view of the mall, along with important information, such as when the mall opened and closed and when the mall was the busiest.

"Your second target is local traitor hangout, The Edge."

The same effect was used as with Center Mall - map zoom, highlighted building, 3-D view and information. Again it showed when it was open and when the offending Others were most likely to be there, but in addition it showed the faces of the 10 Heroes that usually attended the gatherings.

"Decide amongst yourselves the order and manner in which these tasks are completed. I would suggest attacking The Edge tonight, and Center Mall on Sunday afternoon. We'll be in touch."

Eric laughed, "There ya go, Louise and Amber. You got your wish."

Miranda_ 04-07-2014 06:23 PM

Amber grinned from ear to ear. "Wow," she said. "Sometimes wishes do come true. I can't wait to wreak havoc on that place. I'll bring a storm when we go there to wreck that place."

Louise too was grinning. "We'd better not make any plans as far as that place goes," she said. "We don't want them to get any inkling of what we're going to do. We want them surprised and woefully unprepared."

LadyBast0911 04-07-2014 06:37 PM

((Whoops. :P I edited it with a picture as well))

Jasmine had to agree with the nerdy kid. "As much as I love your positive attitude, Jules, he's right. These attacks are becoming more and more frequent. Like I've said before, we need to group up like the attackers have. They have a building, codes, everything. Its something we seriously need to think about doing."

Lizzy walked over. "Hey chicka." She said to Julia, kissing her cheek and sitting down. It wasn't anything sexual, mainly something she had gotten into the habit of doing while she had been studying in Paris. "So, what are we talking about?"

"How we are failing at protecting the city." Jasmine said, bluntly.
Hunter looked at Eric. "Guess we are hitting the mall then."

TheHayleyDoll 04-07-2014 06:46 PM

Julia giggled when Lizzy kissed her cheek and blushed a little.

The nerdy kid, or better known as Jackson, agreed with Jasmine. "An actual building would be nice."

"But it's going to take time away from the real problem. And it's expensive to buy a building headquarters, and we don't have the funding."
"We'll attack The Edge next Friday then, so we have the whole week to make a solid plan. The mall... when did you all want to attack it?"

LadyBast0911 04-07-2014 06:54 PM

Lizzy shrugged. "Why don't I talk to some of the senators and other congress people to see if any of them will fund it."

"And be under the thumb of a political party? No thank you." Jasmine said. "That will only spell more trouble for us. What if we don't have a huge headquarters that everyone knows about. What about a small apartment or-"

"Or a guest house in the middle of the city which is ongoing several renovations." Lizzy said, a small twinkle in her eyes.
"Definitely on a weekend. Highest amount of traffic. I was thinking Saturday as that is usually when people flock to the mall."

TheHayleyDoll 04-07-2014 06:59 PM

"Lizzy, you know a place? Oh my God, you're, like, the bestest!" Julia hugged her.
"Saturday as in tomorrow?" Eric clarified. "We better start planning then. I can put the power out. All the doors are connected to the power supply, so when the power goes out, they automatically lock. The Regulars will be trapped in."

Miranda_ 04-07-2014 07:01 PM

Amber gave an evil grin. "I'll work the weather," she said. "Do you think flooding or excessive snow would be best?"

"Snow, definitely," Louise said. "Cuz if Eric cuts off the power, that includes the heating as well as the lights. And if you send the snow against the doors, that ought to stop any interfering Heroes getting inside. We know that they'll be there to try and stop us. I'll be there, too, so they'd better watch out."
