Of Cats and Dogs - rp

Felina narrowed her eyes; she could smell trouble brewing in the air. She told the other warriors with them that they had better get back to the main party.

Phelan led the cats to where the wolves had settled in the caves. These caves were fairly basic, but went back a long way so would be perfect storm shelters.

Just as the main cats were about to enter the caves, the storm hit- and it was nasty. Winds nearing -and eventually exceeding- 157 mph tore through the trees, knocking many down. The rain was so heavy that it was like staring out at a sheet of metal; it was all opaque. Lightning flashed, thunder cracked, and the once beautiful day was now a cacophony, a symphony of booming thunder, shrieking winds, crashing trees, and hissing rain.

Now, as the caves were up on a hill, a natural summit on the island, they likely wouldn't be flooded. But, boy, did the rain try. Cecy was actually tossed into the caves by the wind. She slammed into a stalagmite about four times her dimeter and blacked out.

The winds changed direction constantly, too; the very same wind that blew the princess in suddenly switched to blow west, back to where the group had come from. It wouldn't be surprising if someone else were carried away...

Kioren Tigris growled and hopped off from his stoop and ran towards the ruins, "Everyone inside! Everyone inside now! The storm will be a nasty one! Take shelter find a place sturdy and large to protect you from the storm." He pushed a few of the cat warriors back inside. "Stay here."

Shiki let out a distressed mewl and a screech as he watched Sissy being thrown into the cave just as he was hoisted off the ground and thrown into the current of the winds. Hands grasping for anything to take a hold off, his large eyes widened even further, his body was hurled through the trees. His small body crashed into a few-he was sure he had a few broken ribs-, branches scratched and ripped at his clothes and exposed skin, his tail curled protectively around his thigh. His ears flattened to his head before he brought his arms up to shield his face.

Tossed out of the trees, the strong winds blew him towards the ruins, his scream of fear ringing in the air.

Going against her natural instincts, Lupa made her way to the edge of the cave to keep a sharp eye on the Cats, and made sure that they all made it in okay. She didn't readily offer her help, but she stood by anyways, knowing if something did happen she would be prepared.

Harley's ears picked up on some screeching that wasn't the screaming of the wind. No, this was a person and-

Holy sh*t, this someone was flying through the air. Harley shoved his way out into the storm -and, really, 'shoved' is an appropriate term with those gales, even for someone of Harley's size- and miraculously grabbed on to the as-of-yet unknown person's ankle. He was so surprised he made the catch that he almost let go, then panicked and tightened his grip. The wind then knocked him over, and he fell with whoever-it-was.

He lay there for a moment, then gathered the very small individual into his arms and struggled his way back to the half-decimated tower. When he, at long last, made it back inside and out of the rain, he discovered the person he rescued to be the Scaredy Cat... what was his name? Ah, yes, he called himself 'Shiki'. "It's okay. I caught you; you'll be alright now," he said soothingly.

Shiki felt his form being laid upon the mold-eaten couch and cowered into the corner of it. His body was shaking, his voice was raspy and cracked as he mewled and cried out for Sissy. His large eyes filled with tears, arms wrapped around himself.

He wanted to run and hide, he wanted to lick his wounds and find Sissy to make sure she was okay.

Harley winced when Shiki essentially had a meltdown, and then his own heart melted; poor thing was scared witless. He got down on his knees before the couch and wrapped his large arms comfortingly around the smaller figure of the snow leopard. "Shhhh," he murmured, "you're alright now, you're safe. I caught you, I won't hurt you. Come now, I'm sure, er, Sissy is safe; the Alpha won't let her get hurt."

He began to gently rock Shiki, as though he were naught but a small child. And, in comparison to Harley's immense physique, he might as well have been. "Just cry it out, now; you need it," he said softly.

Wiggling in the unknown persons arms, his blurry vision didn't help much. His nails nearly dug into the mans arm, body wiggling violently- arching, contorting- until the mans voice slowly calmed him. Biting his lip, Shiki wrapped his arms around himself tighter.

Fitting into the nook of the mans arms, Shiki released a pitiful mewl before breaking down into tears. He wanted his Sissy, he wanted her now!

So Harley sat there and rocked with Shiki for a while, letting him blubber. He was good at that, being the silent comfort; it was, actually, part of the reason he was chosen to be next Beta.

Betas were the support for the Alphas; they helped enforce rules, sure, but they were also there to meet the emotional needs of the people; the Alphas had enough on their hands to deal with, and often came across as distant. This could be good, as it meant that they were intimidating and didn't invite challengers, but it also meant there was a... rift. That rift was filed by the Betas.

Harley, of course, was the listener, the gentle giant, the friend that wanted to solve everyone's problems. And, for right now, that meant he'd sit and rock a small Cat until he cried himself all out.

Sniffling, Shiki wiped away the tears in his eyes and on his face, ears shifting and tail softly swaying. He hissed and whined in pain as tears once again rose in his eyes. He surveyed his tail, it was a mess, blood matted the fur and more blood was bubbling out from a side of it. From the looks, it was only a gash and nothing was broken.

His legs had a few gashes and cuts as well as some bruises, but other wise fine. His arms were a little worse, his right wrist was a little swelled and both arms covered in bumps, bruises, gashes and scratches.
