Lucy noticed Victor. "We have a little bread today," he told the older boy. He wandered in to the pantry, got a crust of stale bread on the verge of turning moldy, then wandered back to Victor, handing it over.

Astarte suddenly pawed gently at his ears; hers, like all Avians, were little more then holes in the side of her head, so something as big and fuzzy as a cheetah's ears were a marvel.

"That's wonderful," smiled Nedakh. "As soon as you can stand on that foot without damaging yourself, I'll have you to work."

[Miranda_]

"Thanks," Victor said, before snatching the bread and eating hungrily. "I haven't eaten all day; I can't spare the money. That's for a worse hunger than just wanting food."

Ari grinned from ear to ear. "I can't wait," she said. "Just one thing; do you have any books I could read while I have to stay in bed? I'd love to know more about Wolf culture."

His ears twitches and moved from her pawing, he smiled, "You like my ears?"

"Eeeeews!" nodded Astarte. If he showed her his tail, she'd likely get even more excited.

Lucy pitied Victor for his dependency on opiates. "Well, um, good luck, then," he said awkwardly. What else could he say? Telling a druggie off their drug would be pointless and stupid rolled into one; he was just glad Victor wasn't dead from starvation yet.

"We'd have to teach you our alphabet, it's different than yours," Nedakh told her.

He chuckled, tail moving beneath the sheets. "You've never seen a cat before, have you?" Aza asked.

As soon as he was finished eating, Victor wandered away from the Temple. He knew perfectly well that he would not be permitted to take the drug within its walls. Victor found a dealer who took his earnings and sold him a bag full of the drug. He then sat outside the Temple in order to smoke it and find oblivion; despite the fact that opium wasn't allowed to be smoked inside the building, outside was fine and the safest place to be.

"I'd be happy to learn it," Ari replied. "In fact, I would like to start learning it straight away. Maybe one day, you and your people will see me as a Wolf in all but body."

Star stared uncomprehendingly at Aza.

Lucy shrugged, took the last crust of bread and went to see how Aza and Star were doing.

"That'll happen sooner than you think," Nedakh said. "You and the other cat -Kayden- are more than welcome as permanent residents."

"That would be wonderful," breathed Ari. "Thank you."

[Shmiley]

He chuckled again and moved a little to reveal his tail, it swooshing back in forth happily, "Now, you mentioned you have a boo-boo, can I see it?"

"You're very welcome," Nedakh said. "Feel free t wander around, get to know the place. Just don't strain yourself."

Star presented her index finger to the cheetah, showing him the tiny cut on her finger. "Kiss boo-boo?" she asked.
