"Good idea," Ulricha replied. "The things she's told me about Cat society already; I mean, we knew that they thought themselves superior, but to treat their women like that..."

She left the sentence hanging.

"It's horrid, I know," he said. "Is she okay with talking to me? Maybe it'd be easier if you came along, introduced me as a friend."

[Miranda_]

"That would be best," Ulricha replied.

[spirit_queen]

"You first," he said, indicating she should lead.

Ulricha led the way to where Ari was recovering. The Cheetah girl was sitting up in bed. Her side had been bandaged and her broken leg set; it was broken only in the ankle, and not in the whole leg as previously thought, tho the rest of her leg was extensively bruised.

"I take it you're Ari," Nedakh said. He wondered briefly what the cheetah would make of his heterochromatic eyes; new people tended to stare at him a moment until they could properly process the fact that one eye was light blue and the other dark brown, almost black.

[Miranda_]

The cheetah girl nodded. Her eyes rested briefly on Nedakh's mismatched eyes, before Ari smiled at both Wolves.

Ulricha said, "Ari, this is Nedakh. He'd like to talk to you, if you feel up to it."

Ari replied, "I'm fine. Thanks for everything you've done."

"It's our way not to waste life," Nedakh said. "I was wondering if I could ask you some questions about your former home."

[Miranda_]

"If you like," Ari replied. "As far as I'm concerned, it's always going to be my former home. I want to live here; this place is like paradise compared to my old home."
