Phelan was the opposite; tho he was working on his tact, he could be very blunt when talking to people about what needed to be done. Phelan's mother had died when he was just a cub, and his father had taken another lover, who had given birth to Taka. He and Taka were therefore half brother and sister, which accounted for the fact that they looked very different. Phelan took after his mother, who had passed down her black hair and black wolf form to him.

"Where's -um- Cecy? She seems to spend a lot of her time with you," Harley asked.

[Miranda_]

"She said she needed to bathe, so I sent her to ask Laika to show her to the bathing pool," Phelan replied.

"She's getting on very well with her training."

"I only really just started with Shiki," Harley admitted.

[Miranda_]

"We could maybe train them together sometime," Phelan suggested.

"Oh, Shiki would love that; when he's not exhausting himself trying to impress me, it's 'Sissy this' and 'Sissy that'; he adores that princess, looks up to her as a sort of mom and big sister into one," Harley said. "I haven't been told much, but it seems like his parents all but behave like he's a pet, and not even the favorite pet, at that... it's kinda sad, isn't it? And they call us the barbarians."

"Exactly," Phelan replied, thinking of wolf society, where every cub was treasured. Even tho they were raised to be tough, trained to fight and hunt and to be multiskilled, the wolf cubs were loved as a general rule. The thought of parents treating a cub like the way that Shiki had been treated made Phelan feel angry.

"The cats claim that we're uneducated savages, but they're the ones who treat their cubs badly and suggest that they take ours away for five years, as in that travesty of a treaty."

"Well, I'm going to change all that. I mean, there are certain advantages to their society, and those I'd like to keep, but a lot of the hypocritical rules of the 'elite' need to go," Harley said.

[Miranda_]

"Not to mention the way that the elite keep all their riches to themselves," Phelan said.

"If they wanted to pay for their war, all they'd have to do is empty their own pockets rather than demanding reparations."

"But that would mean no more bubble baths," Harley snickered.
