No Light, No Light (Private)

[Miranda_]

"I don't care if that's a demon," Ty said savagely, to cover up how ill he himself felt.

"I'll kill it if it touches me."

[Sarah_K_O_M]

"That's the spirit." Gabrielle said encouragingly. "One of those comes near you again, you bite it apart if you have to. Better than being... That."

She sighed and slumped forward in the seat.

"Though if they can possess vampires, it mioght not be such a good idea." she said, then paused and sat upright. "Wait. It called me a vampire.... It called me a vampire!" She looked over at Ty, grinning. "You know what that means?"

She started to stain and twist against the wooden shackles.

"These kind of shackles are made specific to each race. And if they're only half right, they only half work."

She twisted her arm in the shackle until it almost snapped itself, but just before that there was the groan and splintering of wood. Then, with her free hand she tore open the second shackle far more easily, then the ones at her feet.

Gabrielle stood up and stretched out to her full 6 foot height, suddenly a lot more confident, and a lot more reassuring. She started breaking the ropes holding Ty, feeling like a big **** hero.

[Miranda_]

Ty couldn't understand why Gabrielle was being so cheerful. "You do know," he said, "That we still have to get out of here? And that we don't know where we are, so after that, we have to find out how to get back to the city?"

[Sarah_K_O_M]

"I doubt we're outside the city." she said, "I don't think they could have gotten me through the city and through the wall in the time it took me to wake up. And that assuming they'd even get past the Borderwatch. But either way, I just figure our chances to escape have just highly improved, yes?"

She offered her hand to him to help him up. "So, just stick close to me, and I'll make sure you get home safely, alright? It's my duty."

[Miranda_]

Ty refused the proferred hand, prefering to get up by himself. "Oh, I know all about that," he grumbled.

"It's not as if you can even deal out justice to those who deserve it. Then again, if such people are in positions of authority, I guess you feel you have to turn a blind eye to their activities."

[Sarah_K_O_M]

"I don't know who you're referring to, but trust me, if I had my free way, there'd be a lot fewer people in this city." Gabrielle said, a hint of bitterness in her tone.

"Specialist Viaris of the Nightwatch, by the way. Gabrielle."

[Miranda_]

"Ty Redfern," Ty replied. "My older brother Othello's in Nightwatch. You've probably met him."

[Sarah_K_O_M]

Gabrielle gaped at him, then took a step back and looked him up and down.

"Wow. I mean, I can see it, but you're a lot less of an asshle than he is." she said, looking genuinely confused. "Are you sure you're related?"

[Miranda_]

"Of course I'm sure," Ty snapped. "And you don't know him like I do. We look out for each other, same as all our family does."

[Sarah_K_O_M]

Gabrielle winced. "Right, right. I'm sorry. I didn't mean it like that, I'm sure he's a fantastic brother. It's just.... He and I don't exactly have a friendly working relationship. It's... I shouldn't have said anything, sorry."
