Lorelei stepped neatly backwards, her fine features forming a small scowl, as a heavy, metallic looking creature clanked past them at a dangerously fast speed for something so seemingly large and clumsily put together. Although not in danger of being knocked down by it, whatever it was, she hardly wanted to be close to it, not with the ridiculous amount of putrid smoke it appeared to be producing. Slim, and pale skinned in her human form, with a long, thick mane of red hair, it wasn't until one looked closer that they managed to pick out Lorelei's more unusual, or rather, unnerving features. The small green and silver scales that dotted her upper arms and legs, for instance, an easy giveaway in regards to her usual, and much more comfortable, mermaid form.
"How awful," she remarked indignantly, flicking her hair over her shoulder before crossing her arms in a show of disgust. "And all of that smoke and noise! Completely lacking in any sort of public grace or etiquette." Unfortunately, although capable of being absolutely charming, Lorelei possessed the unique ability to pull of the vain, bossy, judgmental and stubborn brat to utter perfection. And more often than not she indulged in putting this particular ability to good use. This wasn't to say that she was utterly and completely consumed by her looks, but following in the general tradition of most mermaids, she tended to take a particular sort of fierce pride in her appearance, as well as in the appearance of her surroundings. However, once one pushed past this somewhat superficial layer, she wasn't entirely unpleasant to be around, just a little difficult. "I completely agree," she said, turning away from the road so she didn't have to face any more of horrendous creatures, a look of distaste on her face. "This is obviously the wrong place," she raised her voice in order to be heard over the roar of the engines. "In fact, I absolutely refuse to believe this is right. It must be a mistake." It was fair to say that she was thoroughly disappointed, because common sense was telling her that yes, they were in the right place, and it wasn't at all what she had expected. It had been curiosity, excitement and the prospect of something new that had caused her to volunteer for this, but it had also been because she had filled her thoughts with prospects of beauty and peace, not an industrial world full of concrete and noise. ![]() |

Aislinn was excited- oh, so excited! To be with people once more! to frolic, seduce, devour, frolic some more and- she had to jump out of the way immediately as a large, oddly shiny, metallic beast screamed and charged her, bellowing smoke all the while. She screamed at it, and growled when the wind of its passing made her skirt fly up, revealing her goat's legs. She slapped her skirt back down roughly and coughed. "We came all the way from Tir na n-Og for this?"
Ash was a glaistig, a goat-woman. They were known to seduce mortals and, occassionally, devore them. Ash preferred only to drink some of their blood, however; human flesh wasn't her thing. To her, it had such an odd texture. It had been YEARS since she last was able to visit earth, and the child-like nature fey had quite literally jumped at the chance to return. All she'd been able to think of was the dances, the flirting, the fun-fun-fun. While she often seduced men, Ash really was naive and child-like, and very, VERY hyper. She was more than a little self-absorbed, and saw things in black and white. She had an obsession with blood, and had planned on coming to earth to gorge herself silly. But now? Oh HELL no. This was wrong, so, so WRONG. Where was the grass, the trees, the flowers? What were those metal beats on the black paths? Why did the air smell poisoned and dead? "This is the worst! What have the mortals done?" She shrieked. "They are al SO dead! How can I have play-time in a place like this?" ![]() |

Navinduidamarax-Redidamaxilurik walked out of the doorway. Dragons had an awful habit of giving their children unbelievably long and complex names, despite the fact that their expansive intelligence did not make long things with numerous syllables any easier to wrap one's scaly head around. Navin had just given up trying to pronounce his full name early on and insisted that he was called Navin. And that was that. He was trailing behind the others, shock and disgust written plainly across his face. His hair was watermelon green and his skin possessed a similar tinge, but his eyes were bright red and slit-pupiled. His skin was translucent and the red glow of his blood was clearly visible, contrasting oddly with the green.
He hadn't been expecting this vilely poluted mockery of a world, and had turned up expecting to find himself in the medieval era. That had been about the time that dragonkind had withdrawn to the other world, and he'd been the equivalent of an infant. Hundreds of years on, he was still only an adolescent, because dragons could take millenia to live, grow old and die. His age showed, because his human body was a fifteen year-old boy. He'd dressed up in dark green clothes that wouldn't have been out of place in old England. He'd also brought a cowl to prevent his hair and eyes giving him away, and a dull green slate sword with a red gem set in the blade that was stuck through his belt . Such swords were tools for casting spells, rather than real weapons, and were another product of the dragons' exile. He was painfully aware that the few humans in sight were wearing things he didn't even recognise, but he noticed one of them had ridiculously coloured bright blue hair. For a moment he thought it was another dragon, but he could see the eyes were normal. That eased his worries slightly. The senses of dragons were sharp, even in their human disguises, and the air was choking him. Even after so long, he could tell it was filthy and a far cry from the clean oxygen that had prevailed on Earth for millenia past. How could any race cause such corruption? The dragons had existed for far longer, and their civilisation had been much more organised and expansive, yet they hadn't caused a shadow of this damage. He had a coughing fit and doubled over. Navin considered changing forms and flying away to see if the air would get better, or just diving back through the doorway, but he held his ground. There was no way in any event that he was going back to hear his mother hissing "I told you so!" xD. “I mean a weapon you hold. You have a gun, Tanith has a sword... I want a stick.” ~ Valkyrie Cain

Ooc: Starting this now; can't really wait for any longer. Anyone else who wants to sign up can do so if they like, as long as they read all the pages first.
Kaori wrinkled her nose in disgust. "We have to get away from this hard ground," she said. "Standing on it hurts my feet, and the smell is making me feel sick. There surely must be somewhere in this hideous place where the air is breathable." ![]() |

Navin attempted to agree, but he coughed uncontrolably, causing whatever he was saying to come out garbled. Instead, he nodded his head enthusiastically at Kaori.

Lorelei shuddered, pinching her nose with her fingers to try and prevent the God awful stench from assaulting her sense of smell any further. In normal circumstances she simply would have demanded one of her companions make it go away. Now, however, she was too put off for brattiness.
"This 'hideous place' seems to stretch on for a while," she remarked instead, sounding a little doubtful. "What if everywhere is like this? Then what do we do..." the mermaid's eyes widened in horror. "It'll all be so ugly," she said, sounding even more distressed than she previously had. "I simply won't be able to stand it!" ![]() |

"Much as I agree with the idea, I don't think it's very practical at the moment," Kaori pointed out.
"They are used to this terrible environment; they have the advantage. So we should go and find someplace to rest up first, then spy out the land. We can manage that by talking to the humans; human males for example are very unsuspicious." ![]() |
