Navin gestured to several children playing with a spherical object on the other side of the park. "Yes. I think they'd do."

"They'd better not refuse to comply," Lorelei said, narrowing her eyes for a moment or to. "Not when they already made this world so ugly."

"I doubt they will," he said, but didn't budge. He didn't want to talk to the monkeys. "Kaori, how about you try? You look the most Human with your tail covered up."

[Miranda_]

Kaori glared at the dragon. "I prefer to use my charms on adult men, not children," she replied. "I have no liking at all for them."

Navin blinked, surprised. Then he tried to convince her. "Look, it'll only take a minute to get what we need out of them. It might take longer if we try to terrify them into talking."

"But what would children know about what went wrong with the world?" Kaori replied.

"Remember, these are youngsters. Why would they know anything? They probably were sent out to play when the adults discussed it."

Navin looked back and forth from the kitsune to the children.

"Fair enough. Maybe their parents are worth a try?"

"Oh! Silly, silly me!" Ash giggled.

"What is it?" Lorelei asked, sounding curious.

"Yeah, what?" the dragon blinked at Ash.
