"That's the problem." He responded, narrowing his eyes and chewing on his lip.

"They shouldn't be able to hold swords that big at all. Have the humans gotten stronger, or something?"

"Maybe the swords are made of wood, and painted over," Kaori said. "Where I come from, they use wooden swords sometimes."

What Kaori noticed most was that many of the girls were wearing short skirts. Some of them looked curiously at her own lengthy skirt, and giggled.

Finally, some of the cosplayers, laughing raucously, paused and noticed the other group. "Dudes, what are you suposed to be? What's your costume?"

"Obviously we aren't mean to 'be' anything, as you so brutishly put it," Lorelei replied, stepping forward and placing her hands on her hips.

Navin didn't say anything. His irises darted from Lorelei to the cosplayers and back again. He was sure this wouldn't end well.

The guy who'd asked merely gave her an odd look and said, "Riiiiiiight," then walked away, occasionally glancing back at them as though he couldn't make them out.

"What idiots," Kaori said. "We'd better go in any case; we're wasting our time messing about here."

"I wanna see trees," Ash said in simple agreement.

Navin resumed breathing and hastily nodded his assent. He raised an eyebrow to himself and crossed his eyes, wondering what on earth would possess anyone to pretend to be a knight. Obviously, the world had gone completely mad.

Suddenly, they turned a corner and found themselves before a large park. "TREEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!" Ash screamed. She dashed across the street, forcing cars to come to a screeching halt, as she entered Central Park, NY.
