Charles made a grimace of disgust, which was of course unseen by James. "I mean it; don't lay a finger on Rain. She's far too valuable to be despoiled. As for rebellious, well, you have your methods and I have mine. I just prefer to utilise mine whenever possible."

[spirit_queen]

"I won't touch Rain, I swear it... but, again, what are you willing to part with for my services?" James asked, his voice gone suddenly hard.

[Miranda_]

"That depends on what you want," Charles replied, levelly. He knew that his brother was the only person capable of tracking two Diclonii, but the deal was always the unpleasant part.

[spirit_queen]

"...I'll leave it at this: I'll call you in for a favor of some sort later, eh?" James said. He loved the idea of holding some sort of debt over his brother's head.

[Miranda_]

"No deal," Charles said. "I know the sort of favours you call in; I have a long memory. Remember Dawn? There's no way on earth I'm going to give in to that kind of demand again. I'd sooner take Alexis out of storage rather than let you hold something over me like that. I'd find the Diclonii myself, and for nothing. However, if you want a check, I could just as easily let you have the job."

James sighed. "Fine, a monetary reward will suffice."

[Miranda_]

Charles heaved a sigh of relief; he did not want to take his son out of the cell at all. As far as he was concerned, it was easier to keep his son locked away from prying eyes.

"Same amount as last time," he said. "Payment on delivery."

"Fine," James said. "But unlike last time, no calling me to check up on my progress; you can't rush an artist at work."

[Miranda_]

"Agreed. But you must keep me updated whenever it's possible."

[spirit_queen]

"Sure thing, Charlie. I'll get Rain first," James said.
