"Not so long to go now," Dolph replied.

[spirit_queen]

"Even a year feels like forever... but I have a plan," Emily said, her light eyes suddenly glinting.

[Miranda_]

"What kind of a plan?" Dolph asked, while idly thinking that Emily looked a whole lot better today than she'd looked before. It wasn't just the way she dressed; she almost seemed to glow. He felt he and Lupe had most certainly done the right thing in ridding Emily and her sister of their parents, if only temporarily.

"Those demon dogs really do look demon-esque; I'm going to tell my parents I made a deal with the devil and summoned them that night Mia and I ran off into the forest," Emily said with a grin.

[Miranda_]

"Good idea," Dolph replied. "That should keep them off your back for good."

[spirit_queen]

"Maybe," She said.

[Miranda_]

"So everything's alright now," Dolph said with satisfaction. "If your parents go nasty again, well, maybe the demon dogs will come back to help you."

[Silent_Wolf]

Miya was trying to get her locker open. She'd forgotten the combination again and she was starting to get irritated.

Elsewhere, Arik and Jesie had opened the bar and Lopakhin had already arrived. He couldn't seem to resist the place's appeal - or its regular, Jay. "What'll it be today, Lope?" Jesie was wiping the counter off; an earlier customer had been smoking and there were still cigarette ashes everywhere.

"I'll have whatever it is that's cooking right now." He sniffed. "Spicy?"

"You don't even know." She grinned. "It's Dad's special recipe too. You can get it on steak, chicken, or fish."

"I'll go for fish. Cod?"

"Nah, we have different ones every week. This week's sole. It's like flounder."

"I'll take some of that, then."

Lee came to Miya's rescue. The school lockers were dodgy and sometimes the combination slipped; after a few minutes, he managed to get it open.

"Thanks." She smiled at him and got her books out. "Did you hear about the dance?" She asked idly.
