The painting was of Avarice, a dragon pony who had lived several centuries ago and had done nothing but cause mayhem. She had messed with the seasons, with day and night, and had caused much mischief before Luna and Celestia had defeated her and trapped her within the painting. Avarice had a unicorn's horn, dragon's wings and teeth, a metallic mane and tail and a pony body. She had been a very dangerous threat, and all of Equestria had breathed a sigh of relief when she was finally contained.

Stargaxzer couldn't seem to find Scuttler or the twins... perhaps they'd gone on vacation...?

Now how are we gonna save the forest ponies? she thought desperately.

[Miranda_]

Clover was at her home working hard at her magic. She wouldn't want to give up the rescue plan, tho it would certainly be twice as difficult with just the two of them.

A pegasus colt was practicing flying stunts outside. His name was Lightning and he was well known for getting into trouble. He had a pinto coat and an indigo mane. He regularly hung around with a unicorn filly.

Stargazer watched him with envy; she'd never be able to fly like that.

[Miranda_]

Lightning tried a divebomb; it didn't quite come off and he had to pull up sharply to stop himself from hitting the ground. He braked just in time to avoid hitting Stargazer.

The pegasus colt grinned at Stargazer. "Hi," he said.

"Hiya! That was some coolity-cool flying! How do you DO that?" Stargazer gasped out.

[Miranda_]

"Nothing to it," Lightning replied with a shrug. "My parents were both in a display team, and I practice a lot."

[spirit_queen]

"Can you show me?" she asked, fluttering her own undersized wings.

This would seem odd to Lightning, for Stargazer had never in her life taken an interest in flying before.

[Miranda_]

It did.

"You never took much interest before," Lightning pointed out. "You always said you liked to keep your hooves firmly on the ground."

[spirit_queen]

"...um, yeah. But, um.... ah... I changed my mind," she said awkwardly.
