"I don't hate magic, but I never worked as hard at it as I'll have to do now."

"Well, you're good at magic," Stargazer replied.

[Miranda_]

"Thanks," Clover replied with a smile. "But I could be a lot better if I worked at it."

"And now you have to practice," stargazer said.

[Miranda_]

"Definitely. I'll look up the spells tonight and start tomorrow."

Clover waved goodbye to her friend with a forehoof, then set off towards her home.

Stargazer trotted home to speak to her father.

When Clover reached her home, her mother was there starting to make dinner. "Did you have a good time at the festival, Clover?" the pale blue unicorn said brightly as she used her horn magic to move the dishes and utensils.

Clover's mother was named Galaxy. Her cutie mark was little flames, as her talent was for heat and light magic.

Clover nodded. "Very much," she replied. "I'm just going to go upstairs and read for a bit, then I'm going to bed."

Stargazer skipped home. Her mother, a pink earth pony with a blonde mane and tail, said, "Did you have fun with your friends, sweetums?" She had a gold ring with a ruby for her cutie mark, and she ran the local jewelry shop; her name was Ruby.

"Funly-doodles!" Stargazer chirped.

Stargazer's father, a midnight blue pegasus with white blonde mane and tail and a stern demeanor said, "That's good to hear." Her father -Nightwing- was in charge of a major shipping company.

"Daddy, can you show me some flying tips, or something?"

Nightwing looked startled, then suspicious. "You hate flying."

"I know, but maybe if I get stronger, I won't hate it as much," Stargazer fibbed.

Clover's father, Brightly, was at work. His work was construction; he used his magic to move the building items around and put them into place, and it was easier to do this during the night time, due to there being less ponies about. Clover missed her father a lot when he wasn't there.

Scuttler watched the older ponies put away the paitnings. He has left Clover and Stargazer to their...ick...girl talk. Something about that creepy painting made him want to find out more. Scuttler did something he never thought he would do: checked out a book from the library that wasn't for school. He trotted home, toting the book with his magic. His parents were volunteering to clean up the festival, so they weren't home yet. Luckily, he avoided them at the celebration, too.
