"Well, c'mon, princess, have you forgotten our treasure hunting?" Arthur said.

"Never," Guine replied as she bent down and undid the lid to several thick wooden chunks.

Arthur rummaged through some moth-eaten clothes, then let out a low, appreciative whistle as he pulled out a gold necklace with a large ruby pendant attached to it. "I hit the jackpot, cherie," he said, showing the heavy necklace to her.

Guine placed the cloak she was holding down, and walked over to Arthur, crouching down next to him.

"Wow, whoever left these mustn't have realized how valuable a few of these things are," she said, reaching out to touch the ruby.

"Red is so not my color, unfortunately," Arthur mock sighed. "Guess it's yours."

"I don't normally do heavy necklaces," Guine replied. "But if you insist..."

Arthur snorted. "Most necklaces are heavy; it shows off wealth and status that way."

"Wealth and status don't impress me," Guine said confidently.

"You aren't most people," Arthur said. "Wow, now this would be some expensive dye," he said, lifting a bright sky-blue gown. It was faded in places, but there were a few spots where the original color could be seen.

Dye was very expensive and hard to come by, and the more vibrant the shade, the more expensive it got. While an ordinary, bark blue wouldn't be so rare, a lighter color like this would be harder, and would also require a lighter fabric.

"It would, gold and payments we probably couldn't spare," Guine replied. "My father doesn't like to admit it but being the King's confidante doesn't pay as well as most people think. Though it is a nice color, there was darker blue cloak in one of the other boxes. They would go nicely".
