Arthur instead went for a move he'd been taught meant to disarm your opponent; he locked his sword with his adversary's and did a deft little twist, trying to literally spin his enemy's sword form his grasp.

The man almost lost it, but managed not to let go. He took up the stance he had held at the beginning of the fight waiting for the next attack.

Arthur went to the side and attacked there, knowing that his opponent would see it coming.

The man deftly blocked this shot and stepped forward to attack. He aimed his sword at Arthur's head this time, going for perhaps an even more offensive move.

Uther watched the exchange with interest, so far Arthur had done well. His strategy seemed to be fairly good and his moves were executed nicely.

Arthur spun out of the way and around his opponent and attacked from behind; it was a hot day, and he was hoping this could be ended soon... and, yet, he was also determined not to lose. Something inside of him just kept pushing him farther, some instinct was driving him to do his best, to be the best.

The man took the hit but didn't fall to the ground. He spun around instead maneuvered his sword into one of the most common defensive positions. There were only a few more moments to go in the match and Uther was so far impressed by his son's swordsmanship.

Arthur growled deep in his throat and began to attack very rapidly, using quick jabs and some much more complicated moves to keep the enemy on their toes.

The man just had time to block one blow before another came, giving him no time to attack. It was just as he lost his footing that the signal for the end of the match was given. The man regained his composure, there was no doubt Arthur had done well.

Uther nodded, showing that Arthur should join the other knights in training who were suitable and quick enough with a sword to be knighted.

Guinevere leant forward on the back of the empty seat in front of her. "The King sizes them up as he does a horse," she said indignantly.

"Guinevere, enough". Her father was quick to reprimand her, making sure no one had heard. Although he wasn't a forceful or overbearing man he knew the King didn't take kindly to such comments.

"It's the truth," she grumbled, looking irritated.

"Truth or not, your head means nothing to Uther," Leodegrance sounded worried. "Just be careful what you say."

Arthur ran a hand through his copper mane, wishing he could have a nice drink of water; since the other man had begun to lose his footing, Arthur considered it his victory even though he hadn't been allowed to go through with the finishing blow.

He nodded to the other man, then walked out of the makeshift arena to see how everyone else did. He especially wanted to see who Kay had to face; hopefully Kay wouldn't demolish them too badly; Kay was almost legendary, the best of the best.

Uther gave the signal for the nest crest to be pulled. Kay wasn't called upon for at least three more matches, before the cat was pulled out once again and he was called forward to face one of the knights in training.
