James looked at Ana. "In what way isn't he nice? And if he really is nasty, I'm just going to avoid him."

"Well, we were talking about space and he burst in on the conversation to say that space would only be worth it if there was a theme park on the moon, and I told him that wasn't possible yet. He said there'd be a dome or something, and when I said that artificial gravity wasn't actually possible yet, he insulted me and said that he meant in the future, even though he never specified as such," Ana said softly, tuggin at her hair.

Fern was eating a snickerdoodle and couldn't reply to much of this, just gave them their salads - it was fresh greens with oranges and croutons and various cheeses.

[Miranda_]

"I used to know guys like that at school," James said before he started to eat. "They're best ignored, or else they do something stupid like spray paint your locker or set fire to your car."

Ana's eyes widened. "Oh, my!"

[Miranda_]

"Not that I had any trouble with those sort of guys," James said. "They usually picked on the shy people."

[spirit_queen]

"Like me," Ana sighed. "They called me the Corpse Bride at my other school because I'm so pale and cold, like a corpse..."

[Miranda_]

"Well, you probably won't get picked on here."

[spirit_queen]

"Yes, I look forward to that," she said.

[Miranda_]

"I'm not sure what, if anything, I can look forward to, being here," James said.
