Eventually, the organiser stepped forward to introduce Beast as a speaker.
"And now to speak," he said, "Dr Henry McCoy!" Creed waited for his moment, one hand on the spray which held the virus. He planned to infect this mutant right in front of all these gawping people as proof that mutants carried the plague. He ostantatiously covered his face with a hankerchief as Beast passed him, seemingly to avoid infection but really to hide his face so that he wouldn't be recognised before he could put his plan into action. Bishop watched the man standing nearby to the speaker's podium with narrowed eyes. Something was going on there, something which was very suspicious... ![]() |

"Good day, ladies and gentlemen, and I thank you all for coming out today," Beast began. "You have all, by this time, been given some reviews on the subjects about which I am to address. Now, I shall avoid going too deeply into detail about the effects this pathogen has on the body, but a brief overview is a necessity in order to understand the conclusions I have come to about this virus.
"To begin, this virus seems to function on multiple levels; the virus itself seems to be made to infect lung tissue, but the infection carries with it deadly prions -a protein like that which causes mad cow disease- that disrupt and destroy the nervous system. There seems to be a third something working alongside the other two that, while attacking the digestive system, actually works to preserve certain parts of the body necessary for survival so that victims can infect as many people as possible before finally succumbing to death." He stopped a moment and cleared his throat, then continued. "My conclusion is thus; this pathogen, or group of pathogens, is far too complex to have occurred naturally without any know precedents, as even micro-evolution cannot go this fast, and thus was engineered. Yes, I say that this virus, this disease, is men-made! There is simply no possible way that something this complex, this specific, could have occurred in nature as if out of nowhere!" Beast was tempted to emphasize by hitting the podium, but decided that would alarm people, and held back. "This problem we're facing is not a random happenstance, it is a planned attack! Surely, whomever created this wouldn't want to be infected; as such, we can reasonably assume there is a cure already manufactured. We need only to find it... however, just in case no such thing has been done, I shall endeavor to discover something that may save us." ![]() |

Creed scowled and, clutching his spray can firmly, prepared to attack. Just one squirt from the can, and Beast would be infected. However, as he ran towards Beast, Bishop leapt at him and knocked him over. People gasped and stepped back as the two fought, and a woman let out a little scream.

The organiser shouted, "Security! Clear the chamber!"
Paul and Rogue took hold of Bishop and dragged him away from Creed, who stood up, gasping. He turned to face the crowd, staggering slightly; they gasped as he showed he was infected by the virus. "See what they've done?!" Creed yelled. "Let the world see that mutants carry the plague!" He collapsed on to the floor and two men took him out of the room. An ambulance was called for to take Creed back to his house; due to the risk of infection, plague victims were treated in their own homes. ![]() |

Rahne stood by, prepared to help, but the situation seemed to have been handles fairly quickly. As it was, the crowd gasped as one and began to speak then shout, and many left, but it could have been worse.
Beast left the stage; he himself wanted to check Bishop for infection, since Bishop had saved him. ![]() |
