*a few days later*
Senator Kelly was once again on the TV, proclaiming his views about how dangerous mutants were and how something had to be done to stop them. He gave a short but detailed speech, pointing out that mutant powers were at least as potentially dangerous as guns, yet there was no control meted out to mutants as there was for guns. When the filming was over, and the TV reporters departed, the senator went to his office to prepare his speech for the next day. He worked for about an hour, before a minute tapping at the window disturbed him.He looked up irritably, only to gasp out in horror as the window smashed into several pieces, and a figure wrapped in a cloak emerged... Downstairs, several aides heard the smashing of the windows and a yell from upstairs. They rushed up, only to find that the office was empty. Senator Kelly was gone, with no trace left to show who had taken him or why.

When Charles Xavier received a call to investigate due to suspicion os the Senator being kidnapped by a mutant, he immediately agreed and headed there straight away.
There was almost nothing wrong with the room at all, no trace of what may have happened... until the professor spotted a watch that fell tot he floor. He picked it up and examined it closely,noting that it was stopped... Magneto... Charles thought.

Jean had fallen from the sky, still with the Phoenix within her and had fallen into the sea. She'd clutched at the beach, grasping handfuls of the wet sand as she hauled herself up out of the water. Jean managed to make it to some rocks before she collapsed, spent, on the shore.
Senator Kelly had momentarily passed out; he came round with a splutter as a wash of salt water poured over his face. He gazed round in fear at where he found himself; a rusting hulk half in and half out of the water. A man hovered nearby; a man wearing a dark cloak and a curiously styled helmet. The stranger introduced himself as Magneto.
