The Triwizard Tournament {Repost}
Repost cuz the first one died.

1. Everyone can join; however, if I have not RPed with you before, please PM me with your character profile and first post rather than just jumping in. Do not post til I have approved you.

2. RPG forum rules apply. That means no Mary Sues or Gary Stus.

3. The Champions are played on a first come, first served basis. If you don't get there in time, you will have to be an ordinary student, but that's fine, too. You can have two characters, but try and make them diverse; ie both from different schools. Also, remember that Purebloods are still fairly rare; so please, don't let's have too many, m'kay? If your character is a Pureblood and there are already enough, don't drop the dummy if I tell you to edit your character so that they're Halfblood or Muggleborn. The RP begins on the Hogwarts Express; however, if you are playing a Durmstrang or Beauxbatons student, feel free to sidelong post from either the ship or the carriage.

4. For simplicity's sake, this RP is set in a timeline where the tournament wasn't banned. However, the action takes place before Voldemort, so please don't bother referring to modern canon characters. Yes, the families are still around but it would be preferable to invent your own character to play.

5. All students are to be in fifth year if they are taking part in the tournament. For more information on Hogwarts, click here. If you are playing a Beauxbatons student, then you have to pick a French name. If you are playing a Durmstrang student, then pick a Russian name. If you are having trouble with this, then go here.

Teachers At Hogwarts.
Caretaker - Apollyon Pringle
Groundskeeper - Ogg
Care Of Magical Creatures - Silvanus Kettleburn - Ravenclaw HoH
Herbology - Herbert Beery - Hufflepuff HoH
Transfiguration - Albus Dumbledore - Gryffindor HoH
Potions - Horace Slughorn - Slytherin HoH
Defence Against The Dark Arts - Galatea Merrythought

These are the ones I found out that belong to this era. Any others you refer to can be invented, but please try to be realistic when choosing names.

Headmaster of Durmstrang - Ivan Jaska.
Location - A castle in northern Europe, far enough north that days are very short in winter. Likely to be Russia or thereabouts.
Uniform - Fur cloaks, blood-red robes.
Coat of Arms - A two headed eagle surmounting an antlered stag skull on a green field.
Durmstrang, like Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, is located inside a castle. The castle is only four stories tall and fires are only lit for magical purposes. It has very extensive grounds that include lakes and mountains. In addition, the school is Unplottable; Durmstrang, like other schools, likes to conceal its whereabouts so that the other schools cannot steal their secrets. Durmstrang has the reputation of teaching Dark Arts, and it does not admit Muggleborn students. Despite what the movies insinuated, Durmstrang admits both boys and girls.

Headmistress of Beauxbatons - Felice Chantal.
Location - France, the Mediterranean coast.
Uniforms - Robes of pale blue silk.
Coat of Arms - Two crossed golden wands on a powder-blue field, each emitting three stars.
The Academy's building is called the Palace of Beauxbatons. Rather than a Great Hall as at Hogwarts, the Palace contains a Dining Chamber, which is elaborately decorated at Christmas but in a different style than that used at Hogwarts. The scholastic system at the Academy is also arranged differently than that at Hogwarts; instead of sitting Ordinary Wizarding Levels or their equivalent at the end of five years, Academy students sit exams after six years. Beauxbatons is Unplottable, so no Muggles or even wizards from rival schools can find it on a map, and then it is disguised so that no one can really see it unless they know to look for it. Despite what the movies insinuated, Beauxbatons admits both boys and girls.

Headmaster of Hogwarts - Armando Dippet.
Location - Scotland.
Coat of Arms - All the Hogwarts houses' coats of arms together. The houses and their mascots are as follows; Ravenclaw - Eagle; Hufflepuff - Badger; Gryffindor - Lion and Slytherin - Serpent.
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is a Scottish boarding school of magic. The castle is in the mountains near a lake. The precise location can never be uncovered as the school is hidden by the most powerful spells possible, and is Unplottable. Spells protecting the castle include anti-Apparition and Muggle-repelling charms, which make the castle appear as an old ruin with a sign that says "Danger, Keep Out" These spells may be lifted by the Headmaster. Most electronic devices do not work on Hogwarts grounds. Hogwarts students are divided into four Houses; Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. They were named after the four founders, Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin.

Hogwarts: Vincent Draven
Pyotr Bilinskii

Character Profile.

When you fill out your profile form, please delete the bracketed parts; they are just information so you do not need to repost them.

Age: (must be at least 15 if entering)
School: (if from Hogwarts, include house)
Class: (as in Pureblood, Halfblood or Muggleborn)
Personality: (include strengths and weaknesses)
Bio: (use this section to tell us about your character)

Name: Vincent Draven
Age: 15
School: Hogwarts, Slytherin
Class: Pureblood
Personality: Clever and skilled; however, Draven is also rude, distant and very prejudiced towards muggleborns. He is also a loner, and tends to be a bit of a bully at times.
Bio: Draven's parents are Alonzo and Megaera Draven. Megaera's mother is Marlinn Gaunt, who is an ancestor of Salazar Slytherin. Draven's mother often has to remain in the family home in order to ensure that her mother, who by now is in the throes of madness, does not cause any trouble amongst Muggles. His parents are against this only due to the trouble it would cause with the Ministry; neither of them like or respect Muggles and forbid any Muggle inventions to be used inside the house. Draven spent a lot of his childhood alternatively being ignored by his parents and given attention by his grandmother, especially after she realised that he had inherited her rare gift of Parseltongue. Draven's parents are wealthy, but care little for their son, taking him only as far as London every year and leaving him to fend for himself after that. Draven has few friends as he is used by now to being alone, and rarely spends any holidays save the summer holidays at home.

Name: Faina Demidova
Age: 16
School: Durmstrang
Class: Halfblood
Personality: Headstrong and impulsive, as well as very stubborn and selfish at times. Faina is a loyal friend, but often does not think before she acts.
Bio: Faina's family live in a small town north from Durmstrang. Her mother is Pureblood and her father a Muggleborn; he died after Faina's younger sister Ekaterina was born. Both Faina and Ekaterina attend Durmstrang; however, Ekaterina was not chosen to go with the students who were considered to be skilled enough to enter the tournament. Faina is very disappointed that her sister is not joining her on the trip to Hogwarts, however she is glad enough to be going altho she doesn't feel that she is good enough herself to be Durmstrang Champion. Faina has had a fairly happy and close family life and, entering her sixth year at Durmstrang, wishes to work with dangerous creatures such as dragons when she leaves school. She has plenty of friends, despite her faults, and is a fairly good student.

Draven sat moodily in the prefect's compartment on the Hogwarts Express, staring at a book in his lap. He wasn't at all pleased about being made a prefect; he prefered to spend as little time as possible in the company of other students, and this wouldn't help matters in the slightest. Draven was by now used to his own company; he had been making the trip to the station and on to the train alone every year that he'd been at the school; his father always just took him into London, then abandoned him promptly to fend for himself, claiming that he couldn't leave his wife to look after her mother alone for too long. Draven suspected it was more to do with the fact that his father just didn't want to be bothered with him, altho he did have a point when it came to the fact that his grandmother could not be trusted alone. She had gone mad several years before; her husband's death had done a lot to turn her brain, tho it hadn't been particularly strong in the first place. Draven's grandmother was viciously anti-Muggle, and if allowed would hex any that crossed her path. Draven's parents' considerations ran more to not wanting to provoke the wrath of the Ministry rather than caring about the wretched Muggles; they despised Muggles and refused to allow any Muggle inventions into their house, or indeed to allow their son to mix with Muggles outside of school. Of course, that could not be avoided at school but Draven himself had no desire to mix with Muggles so abided by his parents' wishes in this case.

Faina hugged her sister Ekaterina hard. "I wish you were coming too," she said wistfully, finally releasing her sister. Faina and Ekaterina were very close; they did everything together normally and this would be the first time they'd ever been separated for any length of time.

"Of course, I'll put my name in the Goblet of Fire," Faina continued, "But even if I don't get chosen, it'll still be fun to watch the competition."

Ekaterina nodded. "I wish I was coming too, Fay," she replied, sadly. "Anyway, good luck and let's hope that Durmstrang win."

"Definitely, Kat," Faina said, determination etched on her face. She shivered slightly as a cold wind blew in both the sisters' faces, leaving snow in their hair. Faina smiled slightly. "It might even be warmer at Hogwarts than here. Anyway, I'd better be going; I need to get to the ship before it leaves without me."

She hugged her sister one last time, before walking towards where the huge sailing ship was at anchor in the harbour.

Ekaterina yelled after Faina, "Send me an owl when you get there!" Her sister turned round and nodded, waving as she ran towards the ship in company with other Durmstrang students, each dressed in red robes with fur cloaks.

Cheshire1996 10-24-2010 06:49 PM

Name: Collette Bernard
Age: 15
School: Beauxbatons
Class: Pureblood
Personality: Collette is a very happy, excitable girl most of the time, however she can also be quite ignorant, not knowing when to stop delving into things that don't concern her. She can be very competitive in a friendly sort of way. She can also be very headstrong and blunt, and if she doesn't like something has no problems with letting it be known. She can of course be descirbed as more than a little overbearing...
Bio: Collette grew up in the rather busy an bustling midst of Paris, although most of her time so far has been spent at Beauxbatons school of wizardry, which both her parents considered to be in her best interests. Collette did surprsingly well at school mostly through sheer determination, managing to pick things up relatively easilly. She's never been expetionally popular, but has a big enough group of friends to get by. She was of course very excited at the opportunity to place her name in the goblet of fire and possible get chosen to become Beauxbaton's Champion.

Name: Michael O'Sullivan
Age: 16
School: Hogwarts, Ravenclaw
Class: Half Blood
Personality: Michael is serious and often skeptical. He'd much rather a book than a conversation and tends to find other people either uninteresting, irritating or simply amusing. He's really quite intelligent, and usually keeps his rather scornful views of others to himself, because despite his high and mighty demeanor he is extremely polite.
Bio: There was never any doubt as to which school Michael was going to attend, and there was never any questio nas to which house he would be in either. Both of his parents are rather pushy and probably part of the reason he appears to look down on people who can't understand the long complicated word she liked to add to what would otherwise be understandable sentances. However they haven't taught hi mto be downright rude and so he still has a scornful type of politeness when dealing with others. He does very well at school however his friendship group isn't exceptionally large.

- - -

Collette looked around in excitment as she reminded herself that today was the day. Thy were finally leaving after what had seemed like forever and there would be no more sleepless nights now. She resisted the urge to jump up and down and instead tried to remain as calm and collected as all of the other students were, or at least appeared to be. She herself would have liked to be able to scream, shout and squeal in excitment while hopping from one foot to another and quite possible brandishing a large flag in the school's colours. Unfortunately this would have been frowned upon and she probably wouldn't be allowed the continue the journey.

After ten minutes or so of waiting she began to fidget with the edge of her robe. It was a pain, she thought, that teachers always took so long to leave for places. If they hadn't had any teachers going with hem they could have left at least an hour ago. In fact, they probably could have left yesterday because if so and so hadn't done this and so and so hadn't done that then they porbably would have had at least twenty-four hours to spare.

Finally the crowd began to move and Collette's impatience was satisfied as she began to walk forward. Thoughts swirled around in her mind causing complete chaos as she was caught between thinking about what Hogwarts would look like and whether she had any chance of being selected to represent her school. As much as it might have looked it it did not feel like any ordinary day to Collette Bernard.

- - -

Michael looked up from his book as he caught a snippet from the conversation being conducted by two girls a few seats down in the allocated carriage. He smiled to himself as he realized what they were talking about was utter nonsense. He would never be caught saying such things and yet when others said the dreaded words he found it extremely entertaining. Not that he would say anything.

He took the chance to flick his eyes around the rest of the carriage as well. Other's were reading (like himself), looking out windows and chatting in small groups. He adjusted his book and cleared his throat as he took the opportunity to scan the passing scenery as well. However nothing interesting proved to be happening and his vision soon reverted back to the carriage.

He paused to consider several of the million possibilities the Triwizard tournament might hold, and had to hold back a laugh. The whole thing seemed slightly ridiculous, nevertheless he hoped that whoever would represent Hogwarts would come out victorious. Not that it would be him. Michael shook his head in amusement as he returned to the pages of his book.

spirit_queen 10-29-2010 05:07 PM

Name: Pyotr Bilinskii
Age: 15
School: Durmstrang
Class: Halfblood
Personality: Pyotr is very mild and hates confrontations. He has a terrible stutter when he's nervous, and was beyond surprised when he was chosen as champion. He is, however, very intelligent. Because he's a sort of social outcast, he tends to freeze up when in front of large groups of people, and is thus very nervous about the tournament.
Bio: Pyotr has never met his father, and never wants to, seeing as how his father fled when he found Pyotr's mother to be pregnant. Pyotr's mother tried to be a good parent, but the truth is she's not very good at it, and comes across as a bit cold. Pyotr had a quiet childhood, and spent most of his time reading; reading was his escape. Pyotr's mother is a pureblood, and Pyotr has no idea what his father was, be he a muggle or otherwise, for his mother refuses to talk about him whatsoever.

Name: "Whacky" Wendy D. Watson
Age: 16
School: Hogwarts, Hufflepuff
Class: Halfblood
Personality: As befits her house, Wendy is tolerant is generally fair, and is loyal. However, she is very opinionated, loud, and has a flair for the dramatic. Keep in mind that she earned the nicknames of "Whacky Wendy" and "the Mad Meta". She loves to show off and to be center of attention; why else would anyone style their hair the way she does?
Bio: Wendy's mom is loving and sweet, and her Muggle father is funny and energetic, but it seems as though they were always at work, and it seems that the family always had hard time finding a decent nanny; most of them were quite neglectful. Thus, Wendy had felt very lonely as a child, for she could only receive the love and attention she longed for when her parents came home. She was never truly abused or any such thing, however, and she did have a lot more material-wise than a lot of children. But those lonely feelings as a child are what stirred her to making herself stand out; after she was accepted at Hogwarts, she vowed never to feel invisible again, and began to "abuse" her powers as a metamorphmagi, and wears a strange hair style and has weird eyes every single day. Wendy suspsects her mother to be hiding something about her past, but has no idea how to ask her about it; though her mother is very positive and often chatty, she always managed to avoid discussing things she's uncomfortable with. Or, rather, it's most likely because Wendy's mother knows her way around a conversation that she can steer a person away from an uncomfortable subject without them realizing. Wendy finds it most annoying, and wonders if her mother will ever open up about their family. After all, her mother has a hint of a Russian accent, but yet Wendy knows not an inkling of why her family came here to the U.K.; if it was for work, her mother wouldn't be so tight-lipped.

The boy looked like he could be no more than thirteen, with his large, grey eyes, his rounded face, and his short stature. His hair was dark brown and curly with a few hints of gold here and there, and it curled down just above his ears. But, in reality, the boy was almost sixteen, and was quite used to being mistaken for being much younger.

At the moment, he was aboard the ship that would soon embark to Hogwarts, curled up with a good book that was obviously in Russian. Yes, he knew English, but he figured he didn't have to use it just yet and, besides, this particular book was one he was reading for pleasure as opposed to study. He fervently hoped he'd be left alone, but he had a bad feeling that one of the rowdier boys might try to pick on him again, like always. But, heck, for now he was just going to enjoy being the only one to have arrived this rediculously early; the more time he had to himself, the better.

Wendy Dawn Watson, or "Whacky Wendy", decided to take it mild today. Or, that is, what could be called "mild" for her; her hair fell straight down her back in a shining yellow-blonde color, with some thinnish straight fringe that came down almost to her eyebrows. Two front bits of her hair on either shoulder were coon-tailed black and yellow; House spirit, of course. Her eyebrows were currently too light to be seen, for she loved the brow-less look paired with dark eye makeup, which was what she was doing now, and it brought out her currently-yellow eyes. Wendy had an almost masculine jawline, and a sharp, hawklike nose; most people would willingly change such a nose, but Wendy loved it, for she found it a very fun and distinctive feature. She wasn't a prefect this year, and was in fact a bit offended; she'd be perfect for the job, dammit! But she made do, for once, and chatted with some peole she hardly knew about silly things for the whole of the train ride.

But, in reality, the gears in her mind were turning, plotting how to wriggle that dark secret out of her mother. Were her mother's relatives so horrible that Wendy couldn't meet a single one? What had happened to scare Wendy's grandmother and grandfather away from Russia? All Wendy knew was that her mother spent most of her childhood in Russia, and then she and her parents moved to England for reasons unkwon, but wendy guessed it had to do with family. So she was trying to think of a way to either trick her mother into telling all, or to find out on her own. It would be quite the challenge. But, then, Wendy loved challenges; the easy life is too easy, and too easy is boring.

Silent_Wolf 10-31-2010 08:03 AM

Name: Leela Smidth
Age: 16
School: Hogwarts, Hufflepuff
Class: Claims pureblood, only halfblood really.
Personality: Leela is wild, random, and friendly; while she's certainly a dunderhead at times, she does well in most classes (except for Charms and her Runes class) and excels at Care of Magical creatures. Her biggest problem is that she isn't aggressive at all when it comes to defending herself or others; she flinches away from conflict badly and it's quite embarrassing as she's a Prefect as well. She's also lied about her father; while she isn't ashamed of him being a Squib, she doesn't want him to lose his job at the menagerie he works at. She also can't stand most Gryffindor students, mostly by the fact that several don't hesitate to point out that she's in the lowliest house.
Bio: Leela's the daughter of an American Squib and a witch from Europe; where in Europe, she'd never say, as it certainly wasn't Britain - she seems to forget where because as a young girl, her family moved around the continent frequently. Either way, it's never bothered Leela and she wholly welcomes her ethnic ambiguity - as long as nobody confuses her for a spastic American. She was born in America but mostly raised in Britain; her mother wanted her to be raised near her pureblood family but her father also wanted her to know his side of the family as well. It was a complicated childhood. When she was accepted to Hogwarts, they settled in a quiet country house far away from Muggles - though she was more than welcome to go and play with muggle children if she wished, as while her mother was certainly pureblood (and probably a little loony as most are), she didn't want her daughter growing up in the same unstable environment as she had had. She's also a born metamorphagus and fully embraces it, though she usually just keeps it to wacky hair colors and changing the length of it at will. It also gives her headaches if she does it too often or too quickly.

Name: Adric de la Roix
Age: 15
School: Beauxbatons
Class: Halfblood
Personality: Adric isn't friendly in any shape or form and will go out of his way to avoid everybody - and I mean everybody. However, he does have a soft spot for anybody who's as huge a fan of Quidditch as he is. Being a halfblood, he has a muggle mother and a halfblood father.
Bio: Adric had a typical wizarding childhood; having a muggle mother, he learned much about the non-wizard world and he's always been fascinated by non-magic technology that his mother used. He grew up watching Quidditch matches with his father and longs to play one day, himself, but his left arm has been broken and mended improperly by muggle physicians so many times (through a childhood of climbing trees) that it doesn't function properly.

Sitting as far away from Draven as possible, Leela too was in the prefect carriage, reading her Potions book for reinforcement reasons. "..." She looked out the window and, because the other prefects were out, turned to Draven and asked, "Should we go and tell the students to change into their uniforms now? We're halfway there and I don't think the Gryffindork prefects are coming back." She stowed her book in her suitcase at her side and put it in the rack across from her seat. "Really don't know why Dippet picked them, they're so lazy. Didn't the one fail Charms last year?"

She cracked her fingers and twitched her nose; her hair, a short green bob, fell into a normal brown shoulder-length hair. She didn't want to scare the new students yet.

Adric followed the crowd into the carriage, inwardly amazed by the fact that everybody could cram inside and yet they'd still be able to have class. It was incredibly unreal. However, he didn't voice this to anybody; why should he?

Once inside the carriage, he nabbed one of the beds farthest from the door on the boys' half, planning on just sleeping through most of the ride - if he wasn't dragged to any classes, first. This is going to be great. He made a face and just flopped onto the bed.

Miranda_ 10-31-2010 04:40 PM

Ooc: RP can start now! ^^

Faina waited impatiently til everyone who was going to Hogwarts had boarded the ship. Eventually, all the Durmstrang students were aboard, and Ivan Jaska, Headmaster of Durmstrang, started the ship. It was enchanted in such a way that when it sank into the lake outside of Durmstrang, it would rise in the lake within Hogwarts. Faina hugged herself with excitement; she couldn't wait to get there. She wondered what the students there were like. And of course, there was the tournament...

Draven looked up as Leela spoke to him. "You can go. I need to wait for Dulce." Dulcinea Wilkes was the other Slytherin prefect; she was a little late getting to the prefect carriage due to circumstances beyond her control. Draven indicated a girl with dark hair who was sitting by herself. "Why not go with the Raven prefect instead?" He prefered to work only with his fellow Slytherin prefect, rather than be seen with the ones from other houses. Draven couldn't work up much excitement about the tournament. He knew that he'd be obliged to enter, or else he'd never hear the end of it from his parents.

Cheshire1996 10-31-2010 05:48 PM

Collette had managed to snag a bed in amongst the fuss of the Beauxbatons girls' carriage. However she was going to wait around until she fell asleep or was asked to attend classes. Instead she managed to find her way out in the corridor, which was clearing pretty quickly.

- - -
Michael decided to keep to himself, the chatter in his carriage was what he considered to be quite unintelligent.

Silent_Wolf 10-31-2010 05:52 PM

"Sure." Leela stood up and headed over to the Ravenclaw prefect. "Hey, come along with me. We need to tell the students to get into uniforms."

Adric stayed on his claimed bed. He had no intention of moving until classes began.

spirit_queen 10-31-2010 06:03 PM

After a while, Wendy left her section of the train and began to wander; she hated feeling confined to one spot, and she knew form experience that she'd get plenty of that at the school, so decided to take this last opportunity to meander around without "cheating", as she called it.

Miranda_ 10-31-2010 06:16 PM

The Ravenclaw prefect's name was Michelle Harvey, and she tended to keep herself to herself as a general rule. She looked up and said, "Alright. We'd better go now." Michelle had already changed into her robes; it was one of the first things she did after getting on the train.

In a carriage further down, a first year girl with long black hair and blue eyes was sitting with a fluffy black cat sat besides her. The girl's name was Nashira Draven, and she was Draven's cousin; their fathers were brothers. She didn't get on with her cousin very well, tho.
