"The second one," Pyotr admitted. Fearing rejection, he glanced away from her, his shoulders slumping.

[Miranda_]

"No," Faina said, softly. She put a hand on his shoulder. "That's fine. That's how I feel about you as well."

[spirit_queen]

Pyotr gasped and looked into her eyes. "R-really?" He thought of himself as highly undesirable, so hearing that Faina liked him back was a shock.

[Miranda_]

"Really," Faina replied with a smile. "And I intend to support you all thru this contest."

For the first time, Pyotr completely forgot his anxieties over the first task. Too elated to care about any rules about PDA, he kissed Faina, surprising even himself.

It surprised Faina too, but she was more than equal to him and responded willingly.

Pyotr broke the kiss to grin at her. "That was my first kiss, you know," he said.

[Miranda_]

"Mine, too," Faina said. "And it was worth the wait."

[spirit_queen]

"Definitely worth the wait," Pyotr agreed.

*later*

It was time for the first task. Parents, teachers and the other students were all gathered to watch in the stands normally used to watch Quidditch house matches. A pen had been made in front of the stands for the task to take place in. The Champions, however, were taken to the back to stand inside a tent so that they would not see the preparations for the task.

Professor Dippet was overseeing the Champions, along with the other Headteachers, Felice and Ivan. He held a bag in one hand and smiled at the three Champions.

"For this task," he said, "You were kept in ignorance of what it would be. Now is the time for you to find out. In turn, put your hand into the bag and take out an object. You can go first, Pyotr."

The objects in the bag were minature versions of the dragons. Each one had a number tied around its neck; this was the order in which the Champions would face their chosen dragon.
