"He looks terrified," Collette noted. "But he'll be okay, you can tell b ythe way he's walking."

The Goblet flamed golden again and a second parchment was hurled out of the leaping flames. Dippet caught it and said, "The Champion for Beauxbatons is Collette Bernard."

Collette's mouth dropped open and she stopped providing running commentary on the reaction from Pyotr. The French girl opened her mouth to speak but no words came out, due to pure excitement at being chosen. She wandered towards the door looking around in a bit of a daze, her face flushed red and her hands still clapped together.

Wendy giggled and nudged Collette. "Go on, girl!" she whispered.

Collette grinned back at her and gave a wave. "I'm off, wish me luck," she said.

"Will do!" Wendy said. Next was the Hogwarts Champion; Wendy wondered who would be picked.

[Miranda_]

This was what the Hogwarts students were all waiting for; who would be their Champion. The Goblet flamed gold for the last time and the slip of parchment was caught by Dippet.

"The Champion for Hogwarts will be Vincent Draven," Dippet announced.

This announcement was followed by a gasp of disappointment from the Gryffindor table. Some booed.

"Whoa! Our champion is King of the Grumps?" Wendy whispered. She watched Draven closely for his reaction.

Draven stood up. An expression of extreme annoyance crossed his face as he began to walk to the door. He didn't want to do this, but there was no getting out of it now.

Becky of Gryffindor booed, as did several other Gryffindors. They hated the idea of the Hogwarts Champion being a Slytherin.

Wendy thought it was rude to boo; sure, Draven wasn't the friendliest of guys, and, sure, Gryffindor and Slytherin were rivals, but this was thei school's Champion; couldn't they at least publicly support him, and keep their disquiet to themselves?
