Wendy had long ago ceased to wonder what Draven stared at; she knew there was no point in talking to him, so she never asked, cuz he'd just snub her as per usual.

Leela twiddled her thumbs as the carriage headed down the road. "I quite like carriages," she remarked. "Very relaxing. Much nicer than cars. Those things are bloody annoying. Can't wait to learn how to Apparate."

[Miranda_]

"I like these carriages, too," Michelle said. "And when you apparate, you'd better make sure you get it right and not splinch yourself. That looks painful."

"What's splinching?" Wendy asked, wrinkling her nose. "Doesn't sound pleasant."

[Miranda_]

Michelle pulled a face. "It's not, believe me," she said. "Mum told me about this time when two people tried to apparate and splinched themselves. That's when you mess up apparating and leave parts of your body behind. These people left half of themselves behind so they were stuck. The Ministry had a job sorting it out, getting the people back in one piece again and modifying the memories of Muggles who'd seen the body parts."

Wendy went rather pale and 'eep'ed, her yellow eyes wide. "Well, you won't catch me apparating for a while, then," She said in a small voice.

[Miranda_]

"Oh, it's only when people don't do it properly, like change their mind about where they want to be halfway thru," Michelle said. "Mum's always hearing gossip like that, cuz of her job."

Michelle's mother Daphne worked in a shop in Diagon Alley.

"Oh. Well, I'm still working on focusing, so I'll still wait for apparating," Wendy said with a shiver.

[Miranda_]

"I expect we'll be allowed the option to take the test next year."

Wendy nodded. "I'll try, but I hate tests; I'm not a test girl." She wrinkled her nose as if she smelled sometihng unpleasant.
