The Triwizard Tournament {Repost}

Wendy winced. "Oh, my."

"But they're rich, so a bag of Galleons didn't really mean anything much to them."

"Pooey, it would for me," Wendy said with a huff.

[Miranda_]

"My parents are rich, too," Nashira said, somewhat apologetically. "I'll give you the money for the sweets when you come back on Sunday, of course. Anyway, we've got the feast tonight to look forward to, and when they put the Goblet of Fire up as well."

"So exciting!" Wendy said, grinning. "I can't wait!"

It was the start of the feast to welcome the Beauxbatons and Durmstrang students to Hogwarts. There was an air of expectation within the Great Hall; after the food, it would be time for Professor Dippet to unveil the Goblet of Fire. The Goblet was an impartial judge; anyone who wished to enter the tournament would write their name on a slip of paper and throw it in the Goblet. Doing so would give them the chance of being selected for their school's Champion on Halloween.

Being school Champion meant that the student would be under a binding magical contract; once entered in the tournament, they could not back out but must see it thru to the very end. There was a lot of excited chatter among the students at the four house tables as they ate; there were students who had been at Hogwarts three years ago when Hogwarts had entered the tournament which had been hosted at Beauxbatons. That year, Durmstrang had won.

The dishes on the table were the usual dinner fare, cept that mixed in among them were traditional French and Russian food. Some of the Hogwarts students were dubious about trying these strange new dishes, others enthusiastically tried everything they could.

Pyotr was encouraging people to try his own fave dishes at the Slytherin table. He explained what they were while he cautiously tried some of the French cuisine. He found he adored onion soup.

Nashira of course was happy enough to try new things, as was Dulce.

Draven refused to try anything new and just sat there silently eating, as was usual.

Pyotr was, by now, used to Draven's silence and talked to the girls instead. His awkwardness was lessening aorund them, and he didn't stutter or say 'um' nearly so much anymore. "...and? What'd you think of that dish?" he asked.
