So Pyotr rushed from the ship to get to the library, hoping he'd find a good book on human transfiguration.

Draven was already there, looking thru an enormous book on underwater spells and charms. He'd already looked thru a book on potions for underwater and dismissed several as being impractical, such as ones requiring potion ingredients which were not available to students, or ones which had to be simmered for a long period of times.

The potions being mostly unuseable, he had turned to this book. At the moment that Pyotr entered the library, Draven had started reading about the Bubblehead Charm. Fairly straightforward, it seemed like the perfect charm to use in the second task. Altho some students would find it challenging, Draven was good at Charms and was confident that he'd be able to perform it.

Pyotr nodded to Draven as he went past, and eventually found several books on what he was looking for; one on Human Transfiguration, and several on aquatic animals.

Human Transfiguration was difficult and complicated; each part of the spell had to be done correctly or terrible mistakes could be made.

Draven read the charm thru then started to copy it out fully on to a piece of parchment.

Pyotr was very good at precise magic, however, and began to meticulously copy the spell, murmuring quietly to himself as he did so. Once he did that, he began to research animals... and stopped when he came to a small section on dolphins. There are freshwater dolphins? He thought. The passage provided only a picture of the bottle-nose, leading Pyotr to assume that the Amazonian dolphins looked similar enough that the author didn't bother with a photo of any sort.

Draven finished copying the charm, replaced the book on the correct library shelf and left, heading towards the dungeons. He now felt fairly confident of success in the second task, tho he still wondered just what the merpeople would take that the Champions had to retrieve.

Pyotr left only a few minutes after Draven did, satisfied with his night's work; not, he ought to get some sleep.

Draven went into the Great Hall for supper; the enchanted ceiling was a stormy grey, with snowflakes dropping from it. He shivered at the thought of the lake, and decided that he'd better enchant his clothing to keep him warm on the day of the second task.

Wendy skipped in and waved to Draven before heading for the Hufflepuff table.

Collette was still trying to open her egg. She'd come to a complete standstill with ideas in how to, though. Without further ado she'd attempted a number of strange spells in order to try and get even something of a reaction, but nothing had worked. And she now took it almost everywhere with her, including the bathrooms.

After finishing pulling faces at herself in the wide mirrors, a final idea popped into Collette's mind. She stepped back, and frowning slightly, conjured up a thin stream of water, which she sent towards the egg. Nothing happened. Intent on making her new plan succeed, she placed the egg in the sink, and tried running it under a full stream of water. When this showed no signs of working the rather frustrated Collette grabbed the egg and marched it off the the baths, where in an action of complete annoyance she threw it as hard as possible into the water.

The girl watched in amazement as the egg opened, and a strange sound, a strange sort if singing filled the room.
